Walnut shrimp. Not quite as good as the kind I got 30+ years ago, but decent.

Do you know of any Indonesian restaurants in the Phoenix metro area?

NYT Whole-wheat buttermilk scones with raisins and oatmeal. I should have added some bacon and we’d have a full breakfast!

There is a Satay food truck I tried a couple of years ago. Pretty mediocre. Satay Hut, perhaps?

There is a Malaysian place, I think in Tempe. Haven’t checked to see if it has survived Covid or not. It’s pretty good. Friendly people.

We went to an Indonesian group get together about 2 years ago. They had great Satays and other Indonesian food, but during normal times, they only hold events once or twice a year. No events since last year that I know of.

We make pizza at home sometimes too, and it's great...., but the main appeal of pizza that it is a quick easy tasty meal you buy when you don't feel like cooking, are away from home, or just don't have time. Why do you dislike buying pizza in SF? I know there are plenty of good ones there.

I road tripped with my dad yesterday. We had Korean food for dinner in Atascadero, CA. I had bulgogi, vegetables, and rice.

Leftover bulgogi and rice plus a side of steamed vegetables to have in our hotel room fridge because there won’t be much nutrition in the Holiday Inn Express breakfast.

Edit to add: I forgot to post our very late lunch. The Kiwanis make a surprisingly darn good burger in Santa Margarita, CA.

A bargain at $8 each.

I love Sf pizza but now I’m way too excited and happy with my pizza-cooking. I have the time as I save time from WFH.
I’ll buy pizza when away from home (sf) but I’m too satisfied with my pizza cooking so I’ll just make my own pizza when I want it. I’ll go to restaurants or get carryout for my family or when we go on vacation. For myself I can just cook; zero need to buy carryout or restaurant solo meal for myself right now. Plus I’m slightly on a budget for myself - we are going to a Michelin place in June and any $20 saved can go towards that meal. I figure it’ll take me two months to cover for it.

there’s an old song called PANIC IN DETROIT by a late artist named David Bowie (that’s not his real name). It was a minor hit and the best song ever with the location DETROIT, which is a USA city known for having an amazing sports team.
