there’s an old song called PANIC IN DETROIT by a late artist named David Bowie (that’s not his real name). It was a minor hit and the best song ever with the location DETROIT, which is a USA city known for having an amazing sports team.

My wife heated up Chinese takeout for my breakfast this morning. The only thing left was Mongolian beef, which was hers and made spicy. I enjoy spicy, but hers was spiiiiiiiiiicy. Took a couple of bottles of water to control the fire!

But I still don’t get what any of that has to do with pizza. |

Margarita (up, with salt)
Chips & salsa Grilled fish tacos Our house is on a block that has fewer than 10 houses on it -- all built before 1920. The house at the far end of the street sold at the same time as ours, and to say it was in disrepair is an understatement. Beautiful bones but uninhabitable. But reconstruction has been going on in earnest for the last year, and we'd heard that the owners of our favorite Mexican restaurant had bought it. Today was the first time since the pandemic that we'd eaten in, and our server happened to be the owners' daughter, so she brought her dad out from the kitchen and we had a nice chat. We really love our block, and it will be nice to have their house finished, since it will boost our property values. |

I'm a fan of obscure references so I like this. Funnily enough David Bowie had a place in Sydney in the 80s/early 90s and it was next door to a family friend. I don't think he spent much time there and I never got to meet him.

Saturday luncheon before our trip:
Grilled cheddar / Colby Jack / Bussetto prosciutto & peppered salami on sourdough jalapeño kettle chips this marks the first time I’ve made myself and eaten a sandwich before a road trip. In the past, I would just get something on the road since we stop in Capitola… on the road: dairy Queen blizzard - chocolate with brownie pieces DQ cone - chocolate dipped with chocolate Gayle’s: deviled eggs italiano ficelle sandwich marinated mushrooms (???) assorted cookies - tollhouse, peanut butter, chocolate chip with walnut |

I bought this at the height of the pandemic when you couldn’t find Spam in the stores. I will probably fry a couple slices and cover with runny fried eggs. White toast with butter on the side. |
