Minimum connection time at AMS
Note: when determining the airline for MCT purposes, what counts is who markets the flight, not who operates it.

Schengen Zone to Schengen Zone, KL-KL: 50 minutes

Schengen Zone to Schengen Zone, KL-DL, DL-KL, or DL-DL: 25 minutes

Schengen Zone to Non-Schengen Zone, KL-KL or KL-DL: 90 minutes

Schengen Zone to Non-Schengen Zone, DL-KL or DL-DL: 50 minutes

Non-Schengen Zone to Schengen Zone, KL-KL or DL-KL: 60 minutes

Non-Schengen Zone to Schengen Zone, KL-DL or DL-DL: 50 minutes

Non-Schengen Zone to Non-Schengen Zone, DL-DL, DL-KL, or KL-DL: 50 minutes

Non-Schengen Zone to Non-Schengen Zone, KL-KL: anywhere from 40 minutes to 2 hours--it depends on the flight numbers and the dates. I've posted the raw output below to help you figure out which MCT will apply.

I was actually "intrigued" by the prospect of AMS-DFW. I actually, did not study it so closely. Noticed arrival from Berlin and departure from DFW. There was not an "ill" intent.

I was also "intrigued" at what prompted the concept of there being pre-clearance (in place) at AMS. (Since pre-clearance from Europe to the USA is very rare.)

Given the reconstruction and layout of AMS, it's one of the more plausible potential Pre-clearance EU airports (politics aside). Vs, say, CDG or LHR which are pretty much non-starters.

Well, the "re-construction" was basically to allow central (not gate) screening for non-Schengen. While I will concede that Delta/KLM have an enviable AMS-USA operation with respect to service.... It's still only a % of the non-Schengen traffic (for KLM + other carriers). I just never heard the concept "floated," of pre-clearance which would (most likely) require extreme segregation of the USA flights.

I have read through the thread as much as possible, but am still a tad confused as to how the new layout/process works at AMS, and also want to throw in a lounge access question as well to the mix.

My wife and I will be flying JFK-AMS in DL One and then onward from AMS-BSL on KLM Cityhopper, in coach on the same reservation/itinerary/ticket very soon. We have a little over a 3 hour connection. Since we are boarding a cruise ship in BSL and will not have access to our stateroom until later that afternoon, we would LOVE a shower in the Crown Lounge before our onward flight.

My questions are (and this may be a different question for another thread, but I am hoping you guys can help), would I even have access to the Crown Lounge in this situation? I am Delta Diamond arriving on a Biz Class ticket, but connecting in coach.

With the usual wait times for showers at the Crown Lounge, is it plausible to get in there, get the shower, and then get to our gate in time?

Assuming that all of the above is doable, what is the straightest path from our Delta arrival gate, through whatever passport control is necessary, to the lounge? I'm assuming that one of the agents there will be more than happy to direct us to our next gate.

Thanks in advance for any help! It sounds like the process should be a bit less painful than before with the security being centralized!

Yes, you will have access to the KLM 25 and 52 (Schengen and non-Schengen) lounges. You most likely to arrive at one of the D or E-gates and you KLC flight most likely will depart from one of the B or C gates. A 3 hours connection will give you plenty of time to shower.

AMS-BSL is an international flight and as a DM (ST E+) you will have access. Doesn't matter if you flying coach or EBC on a skyteam operated flight.

If you go to the lounge 52 (the non-Schengen one) no passport control is needed.
If you switch lounges later or if you prefer to go for lounge 25 directly then you first have to go through passport control.

Edit: Locations of the lounges:

55 Minute Connection at AMS on Sunday in March

Hello.. I'm new to this so pardon me if I've posted incorrectly.

I've read the later posts but want to be sure of making connecting flights back to Canada.

Flight is from CDG > AMS on Air France and connect to YEG on Delta. Is 55 minutes sufficient. It will be on a Sunday afternoon, if that makes any difference.

Thank you.

A folder containing information about transferring at Amsterdam Airport Schiphol

The standard transfer time at Amsterdam Airport Schiphol to a flight within Europe is 40 minutes and 50 minutes for an intercontinental flight.

DL doesn't fly to YEG from AMS. You've got a DL codeshare operated by KLM for the flight to YEG. Very easy connection to make.

That's what I'm thinking. I'm also wondering whether the KLM AMS-YEG flight is nonstop or makes a stop somewhere in eastern Canada. AFAIK there wouldn't be a DL codeshare to DL metal "direct" flight from Europe to Canada via the USA.

I am going from ORD>AMS>DBX in April. I will be in Amsterdam for 7 hours (arrive at 7am; flight to DBX at 2:30pm). I am fairly confident that is enough time between gates but my question is this: How much time should I give for me and my wife to get out of the airport, time to explore (she wants to see the Tulips) and then get back in the airport to our gate.

Also follow up because I am new to international travel. I am a GM and she is a plan ordinary Skymiles Member. What lounges would we have access to in AMS?

Thanks for your help!

You'll have access to KLM lounges in AMS since you're elite+ As for times 7 hrs is plenty of time to get out. There's train service right under AMS, and I make it to central AMS all the time with a 5hr or longer layover.

Finally Dubai is DXB not DBX.

Where are you planning to go to see tulips? IIRC this is more of a driving excursion.

De Keukenhof of course

7 hours should be enough.
If your wife wants to see Tullips she should checkout 'de keukenhof' gardens:

http://www.keukenhof.nl/en/

It's southwest of Schiphol between Amsterdam and The Hague, google map location;

https://www.google.nl/maps/place/Keu...7db0da72386280

There is a bus leaving from Schiphol plaza several times each hour and it will take you around 30 minutes to get to the Keukenhof. They sell combi-ticket bus + Keukenhof entrance. The Keukenhof Express bus 858 from Schiphol Plaza departs from the exit by Arrivals Hall 4 (next to Starbucks).
Don't forget good shoes and clothing (in case of rain, low temperatures)

Edit:travel info here:

This is the pace for fancy show tulips. I've enjoyed just driving along secondary roads near where tulips are grown and seeing field after field of the flowers in bloom.
