Minimum connection time at AMS
Note: when determining the airline for MCT purposes, what counts is who markets the flight, not who operates it.

Schengen Zone to Schengen Zone, KL-KL: 50 minutes

Schengen Zone to Schengen Zone, KL-DL, DL-KL, or DL-DL: 25 minutes

Schengen Zone to Non-Schengen Zone, KL-KL or KL-DL: 90 minutes

Schengen Zone to Non-Schengen Zone, DL-KL or DL-DL: 50 minutes

Non-Schengen Zone to Schengen Zone, KL-KL or DL-KL: 60 minutes

Non-Schengen Zone to Schengen Zone, KL-DL or DL-DL: 50 minutes

Non-Schengen Zone to Non-Schengen Zone, DL-DL, DL-KL, or KL-DL: 50 minutes

Non-Schengen Zone to Non-Schengen Zone, KL-KL: anywhere from 40 minutes to 2 hours--it depends on the flight numbers and the dates. I've posted the raw output below to help you figure out which MCT will apply.

That's not my understanding unless it has changed. I'm a US citizen and was offered it at one point.

From their website:

'Do you have a NON-EEA nationality? You can only apply when you are a holder of a valid diplomatic identity card (AD, AO and AC) issued by the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs.'

I can't understand why anyone would need this - I've never waited more than 15 minutes at Schiphol. That being said the ST E+ lane is often longer at immigration than the other one.

US Citizens with Global Entry can get Privium:

http://www.globalentry.gov/netherlands.html

It gets you expedited through passport control in a flash using the iris scan machines, and you get expedited security when entering the area for Schengen flights (non-Schengen security is at each gate and there is no Privium adantage.)

To be clear, there is no "EU flight area", there is a Schengen area.

Frankly I wouldn't bother.

If I am connecting from MSP to AMS and get in at 1:05pm should I be okay with a separate ticket AMS- CPH that leaves at 3:55pm? As I understand it I have to clear customs get my bag and then go to the KLM ticket counter in the main terminal and re-check everything. What Terminal will I be arriving in and What Terminal will I be leaving out of? Lastly, are there lockers anywhere nearby?

Thanks!!!

Current MCT at AMS

It appears that Delta is not operating DL470 from JFK to AMS till Oct 25, 2013. I need to fly JFK-AMS-BOM. It looks like the only choice have is DL70 from JFK arriving in AMS at 1000 connecting to DL50 to BOM departing AMS at 1045. I would prefer not to go to EWR to take DL34.

Is 45 minutes sufficient to make a connection in AMS? Is it a legal connection? Thanks.

According to this (http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/klm-f...amsterdam.html) thread, MCT is 40 minutes. 45 minutes is probably doable, but could be tight if you're inbound flight is running late.

Why not route JFK-BOS-AMS. I believe there's a flight that get you into AMS with a comfortable layover.

You'll have to transit between the non-schengen and schengen side of the terminal, but it's all one terminal.

It's all in the nonschengen area. You don't go through passport control and any additional security is done at the gate. If you would be seriously inconvenienced by an overnight delay in AMS, look for some other routing that arrives into AMS earlier. Alternatively, you could fly TATL a day early and enjoy an afternoon and evening in Amsterdam, Den Haag, etc.

There is also an EWR-AMS flight at 1800 arr AMS at 0730. If the nonstop from JFK does not have the MCT, I would prefer to drive to EWR instead of a domestic to international connection in BOS.

Or you can take on Amtrak instead. Please don't drive to EWR. Just take on Amtrak. The traffic can be very bad.

NCL-AMS-BCN

40 minutes in AMS...UK passport holder. Just isn't going to happen. I'd probably have hold luggage too. Which definitely won't make it.

BCN-AMS-NCL

45 minutes in AMS

Delayed baggage on the way home isn't SUCH a problem.

Tell me I'm crazy considering it?

The alternative it easyJet...

50 min connection time in AMS

Is a 50 min connection time in AMS doable? I know it is a legal connection but I haven't done a conection time in AMS that is this short.
The flights with longer connections times are more expensive.
Thanks.
