Minimum connection time at AMS
Note: when determining the airline for MCT purposes, what counts is who markets the flight, not who operates it.

Schengen Zone to Schengen Zone, KL-KL: 50 minutes

Schengen Zone to Schengen Zone, KL-DL, DL-KL, or DL-DL: 25 minutes

Schengen Zone to Non-Schengen Zone, KL-KL or KL-DL: 90 minutes

Schengen Zone to Non-Schengen Zone, DL-KL or DL-DL: 50 minutes

Non-Schengen Zone to Schengen Zone, KL-KL or DL-KL: 60 minutes

Non-Schengen Zone to Schengen Zone, KL-DL or DL-DL: 50 minutes

Non-Schengen Zone to Non-Schengen Zone, DL-DL, DL-KL, or KL-DL: 50 minutes

Non-Schengen Zone to Non-Schengen Zone, KL-KL: anywhere from 40 minutes to 2 hours--it depends on the flight numbers and the dates. I've posted the raw output below to help you figure out which MCT will apply.

I'd take the 55 minutes connection, as it should normally be enough.

Anyway should you miss it, KLM will rebook you on the next departure.

IMO; you should be okay.

Starting June 2015 they will be switching to to centralised security.
Centralised security for transfer passengers will be conducted via a seperate route. There will be extra floors on Top of Pier E, F and G for additional seperate routes to keep the passengers who have been screened seperate from those who still have to go through security.
At the entrance of the piers connected area's will be set up with security checks (one at E, one at F and one for the G-H-M gates). If passengers have undergone the same level of security checks on their departing airport then no additional security checks are needed.

For departure passengers it means one checked passenger area for gates D-M (non-Schengen) and one for gates B-C (Schengen). I believe three security checkpoints will be setup in the departure halls..

Will all (or at least those used by DL and KLM) of the nonschengen gates be connected airside and, in particular, will the KLM (and other) nonschengen lounge be after security. In other words, will passengers be forced to guess the timing to leave the lounge and go through security on the way to the gate?

You will have two general connected airside (closed) area's; Schengen (B-C gates) and non-Schengen (E-M gates). Lounge 25 and 52 stay/will be airside. As you probally have noticed at AMS @the Schengen part the new (central) security is already in place and opened last year. Once you past security you are free to go everywhere in that area including lounge 25.
The Privium lounge is still landside.

I've never connected via AMS and am just curious if I'm good.

I'll be arriving on ATL-AMS (on Delta) and departing on AMS-EDI (KLM). We're flying over in Business Class (if that matters).

We have 1 hour 45 minutes between arrival and departure. Is that plenty of time, assuming we get there on time?

Yes, that's plenty of time to even enjoy a shower if there isn't a long waitlist for the showers.

Thanks, but don't we have to go through customs upon landing, getting bags, re-checking, etc.?

Presuming it's all one itinerary, your bags should be checked all the way through meaning that all you have to do is re-clear security near your departing gate (all the outbound Ireland/U.K. flights share a secure end of the D terminal) which in my experience has also been very expedient as there is rarely a line.

You'll handle immigration and customs when you arrive in EDI as they're not part of the Schengen Agreement.

Excellent. So, when we arrive, we just go to our next gate like a domestic transfer, except we go through security again (but at the gate)? That sounds easy enough!

Thanks so much!

With a 1 hour 45 minutes connection time i woud certainly go to KL lounge 52.

After you pass security it's the usual airport seats & there's not much to do around the D02-D06 gates. And as AgentCooper stated; there is rarely a line.
You only need like 10 minutes to go from 52 to the secure D-end.

Thanks. As Skyteam Elite Plus (one is Gold and one is Platinum) and arriving on Business Class from ATL, can we get into the lounge for free?

I stand corrected. Have an excuse for those 10 minutes as those AMS- BHX, EDI, LHR, MAN destinations are all 'have to get up at 4h00-4h30' flights. My poor body is still in standby mode and don't want to switch it to 'on' untill touchdown.

Am I safe with 1:10 connection time flying DL DTW-AMS and KLM AMS-TXL? I'm on a 7:05 am flight from AMS so if I miss it shouldn't have any issues getting out later, but that seems pretty tight (there is another flight with only a 40 minute layover).
