Minimum connection time at AMS
Note: when determining the airline for MCT purposes, what counts is who markets the flight, not who operates it.

Schengen Zone to Schengen Zone, KL-KL: 50 minutes

Schengen Zone to Schengen Zone, KL-DL, DL-KL, or DL-DL: 25 minutes

Schengen Zone to Non-Schengen Zone, KL-KL or KL-DL: 90 minutes

Schengen Zone to Non-Schengen Zone, DL-KL or DL-DL: 50 minutes

Non-Schengen Zone to Schengen Zone, KL-KL or DL-KL: 60 minutes

Non-Schengen Zone to Schengen Zone, KL-DL or DL-DL: 50 minutes

Non-Schengen Zone to Non-Schengen Zone, DL-DL, DL-KL, or KL-DL: 50 minutes

Non-Schengen Zone to Non-Schengen Zone, KL-KL: anywhere from 40 minutes to 2 hours--it depends on the flight numbers and the dates. I've posted the raw output below to help you figure out which MCT will apply.

You should be fine. Especially since eastbound flights often arrive 10-15 minutes early. But, even with just an hour you would still be fine. Going non-Schengen to Schengen there is quick connection and SkyPriority (I do believe) immigration queue. I happen to seldom transit AMS non-Schengen to Schengen. The great thing about AMS is that it's just a matter of walk (albeit, sometimes rapidly).

Flying from BRU-AMS-IAD. Is 1h10min in AMS too short a connection time? How long does security take going from intra-EU to EU-US? I will not have checked baggage. The next earlier flight is almost three hours earlier.

It's tight but completely doable but note that you'll have to clear Schengen immigration *and* clear security -- so you may have to hussle depending on the time of day. I do similar connections all the time (albeit I usually have 90 minutes) but still have time to stop for a beer or two along the way. ;-)

If the flight is prior to June 3rd, security will be performed at the gate and as long as you're in the security line they're not going to leave without you (at least I've never seen them depart with folks still in line).

If the flight is June 3rd or after, there's a lot more unknowns. It's unclear if those who originate in an EU airport will have to re-clear security in AMS. I presume they will in which case you'll go through centralized security which little is known on how smoothly that will operate.

It's June 6th. Oh boy. I guess I will leave BRU earlier and be in the lounge for three hours (or less)

Looking for some advice (posted elsewhere but didn't get a response).

I have the following flight options for an upcoming trip:
MSP-AMS-IST
50 minute connection

SLC-CDG-IST
1:20 connection

50 minutes seems to be the minimum in AMS, but non-Schengen to non-Schengen should be pretty straight forward.

At CDG both flights are in 2E; easier than some connections there.

Thoughts?

50 minutes non-schengen intl connections are certainly doable @AMS (ofc as long as you flight isn't delayed). It's no exception that those MSP-AMS flights arrive 20 minutes before schedule arrival time anyway.

Thanks! I would feel more comfortable with AMS anyway.

I am biased towards Amsterdam. But, my connections (all short, around an hour) at CDG KLM to Air France longhaul or Air France longhaul to Air France Schengen have been very smooth. Same situation (2E) I believe. Caveat, only have flown through CDG three times over the past year. recently. AMS-CDG-MIA (KLM TO Air France), JFK-CDG-AMS (all Air France) and MIA-CDG-AMS (can't recall if CDG-AMS was Air France or KLM).

Recently did YYZ-CDG-AMS on AF. They parked the 777 (10 abreast seats, yuck) YYZ-CDG flight at a remote stand. Had to wait about 15 minutes for them to get the stairs in place and start unloading, and another 15 minutes to get to the bus and ride a long meandering route to get to the terminal. Fortunately, I had a couple hours to make my connection. I would definitely go with AMS any time there a choice and particularly if short connections are involved.

Copenhagen - AMS - Seattle

Hello

We're having a 1.15 transfer June 22. leaving CPH 11.50 in a KLM 737-800, and have a 1.15 transfer at AMS from where we will fly Delta 767-400 Business class to Seattle. The fact the we decided to go Business will make it a bit easier as we can get off the 737 faster and use priority which is nice.

What checks do we have to go through, and also if anyone knows, is it a long walk between the gates?

Thanks for any advice

You'll be arriving in either B/C/D (most likely C) Gates and go thru passport check and PDC (at Gate D1, just questions) and depart from a D Gate
1:15 is enough time and you'll make your connection unless there is a significant delay of your inbound flight

I am flying ATL-AMS-OSL with a 65 minute connection time. That's valid, but definitely one of the tightest international connections I've been on. I am SkyTeam Elite Plus, but my wife has no status, which is unfortunate.

I've never had an issue using priority lanes with a lower/non-status +1.

If your flight departs on-time or close to on-time, you will probably arrive at the gate 5-20 minutes early. Flight times are blocked longer than necessary. I do not believe this will be an issue; unless there is a significant delay departing ATL.

Yep, no issue at all. Just take charge, and hold both boarding passes and documents. (Status SkyTeam Elite+ on top)
