Minimum connection time at AMS
Note: when determining the airline for MCT purposes, what counts is who markets the flight, not who operates it.

Schengen Zone to Schengen Zone, KL-KL: 50 minutes

Schengen Zone to Schengen Zone, KL-DL, DL-KL, or DL-DL: 25 minutes

Schengen Zone to Non-Schengen Zone, KL-KL or KL-DL: 90 minutes

Schengen Zone to Non-Schengen Zone, DL-KL or DL-DL: 50 minutes

Non-Schengen Zone to Schengen Zone, KL-KL or DL-KL: 60 minutes

Non-Schengen Zone to Schengen Zone, KL-DL or DL-DL: 50 minutes

Non-Schengen Zone to Non-Schengen Zone, DL-DL, DL-KL, or KL-DL: 50 minutes

Non-Schengen Zone to Non-Schengen Zone, KL-KL: anywhere from 40 minutes to 2 hours--it depends on the flight numbers and the dates. I've posted the raw output below to help you figure out which MCT will apply.

Recently did Schengen to Non-Schengen (KL-KL) in 65 minutes no problem. Ended up having about ten extra minutes. Felt kind of silly rushing through the airport.

That's good to know. Gives me a good indication.

A friend of mine is flying SFO>AMS>TXL. She's landing at 9:15AM and currently has a 50 min window before her connecting flight departs. Given that she'll need to go through passport control to enter Schengen, is this enough time? She'll be flying J, will that help?

Without Privium it gonna be tight around that time (morning rush), especially during the holidays. J allows her to deplane sooner but's Privium that's matter if you want fast border crossing.
However if she miss that flight, KLM has flights at 07:05, 10:10, 12:30, 15:15 etc

It'll be tight but is doable. I find passport control from the international to Schengen side is normally fairly short and/or quick. There's been times I skip the passport lines leading to baggage claim/the exit and instead go through passport control at the international/Schengen divide then go to baggage claim/exit.

Even if don't make it through in time there's plenty of flights on KLM/LH that will get her there without waiting too long.

She definitely doesn't have Privium, as she only comes to Europe max twice a year. She's currently on the 10:10 flight...however, the problem is that we have to catch another flight that departs at 4pm from the other Berlin airport to Lisbon, since we just made plans to go there after she booked her flight to Berlin.

There's probably no chance that KLM would change the destination from TXL to LIS in the case she misses her flight, right?

Right.
KLM's job is to get her to TXL. Furthermore, SXF-LIS; that doesn't like a KLM/Skyteam flight but LCC territory.
What's stopping her to cancel SXF-LIS & change the ticket from SFO-AMS-TXL to SFO-AMS-LIS?

$$$$$

Also we would have to do SFO-AMS-LIS-TXL-AMS-SFO

This option could be much much more expensive.

Thanks for the vote of confidence. I will tell her to run, as she isn't checking bags.

It also sounds like there may be 2 separate passport lines @AMS? Can you pls elaborate? Apologies, I don't typically fly Skyteam and the only times I go to AMS are typically via low cost carriers, thanks to scheduling.

So far, J class won't help as they have not opened any Sky Priority lanes even though there may be signs to that effect. She will get off her initial aircraft quickly, but it is the 30+ other plane loads of TATL passengers that she will be competing with.

I think it is a makeable connection, but no time for anything, including a potty break along the way. Only one passport control, and no second security to deal with coming from the USA. And it is even possible that she might be able to use an automated passport kiosk if she is holding a US/Canadian passport. The signs are up, but not sure when they will be actually used.

AFAIK, there is only one immigration line for non-Schengen to Schengen connections.

My recommendation is follow the signs for passport control for connecting Schengen flights and then go to the far right of where the line is -- they usually have airport representative there to help expedite folks through that have an extremely short/tight connection.

There is passport control when Schiphol is your end destination and when you go from Non-Schengen to Schengen (and back).
For pax there are couple of options at most stations, at the left you see the automatic passport gates, just right of it (but not clearly visible, entrance is blocked by non-Privium pax) the Privium gate and to the right the normal passport gates.

Looking at a similar arrival and connection, myself

ATL->AMS->TXL but a 1:15 layover. Would be in W so early off the plane...arriving mid-week in late May 8:25am

Guessing we'd be ok (non-Privium)?

Am Star Gold. Soon am traveling from EWR to AMS on UA Global First, arriving on a Sat. morning at 7:45 a.m. Connecting to fly on LH to Munich at 8:45 a.m. in coach. Checking bags. Airport's minimum transfer time is 50 minutes, and this is a 60 minute connection. Early morning on a weekend. Will I have enough time to enter through security and customs and get a seat on my LH flight? What about the luggage--think it will make it, and will I have to collect it and recheck in AMS? Thanks
