Minimum connection time at AMS
Note: when determining the airline for MCT purposes, what counts is who markets the flight, not who operates it.

Schengen Zone to Schengen Zone, KL-KL: 50 minutes

Schengen Zone to Schengen Zone, KL-DL, DL-KL, or DL-DL: 25 minutes

Schengen Zone to Non-Schengen Zone, KL-KL or KL-DL: 90 minutes

Schengen Zone to Non-Schengen Zone, DL-KL or DL-DL: 50 minutes

Non-Schengen Zone to Schengen Zone, KL-KL or DL-KL: 60 minutes

Non-Schengen Zone to Schengen Zone, KL-DL or DL-DL: 50 minutes

Non-Schengen Zone to Non-Schengen Zone, DL-DL, DL-KL, or KL-DL: 50 minutes

Non-Schengen Zone to Non-Schengen Zone, KL-KL: anywhere from 40 minutes to 2 hours--it depends on the flight numbers and the dates. I've posted the raw output below to help you figure out which MCT will apply.

Tight yes but doable. Only passport control (KMar doesn't care about Star Gold, Unobtiniums, D1/WBC/Global First pax etc).
You and the baggage should make it, no need to collect and recheck as long as the airlines have an interline agreement.

Then I'll go for it. Especially since I'm arriving from "clean" zone and don't have to go through security. If I miss there are other LH connections that morning via FRA, and another nonstop to MUC around noon. I'm assuming that if my luggage doesn't make it, they'll put it on that later nonstop, and if I don't make it, they'll put me in there also or on an earlier connection.

Dank u

US to Non-schengen

Hi, my friend will be flying in to AMS from IAH, and then taking a flight to India in 2 hours. Both KLM flights. Where do the flights from US generally land and flights to India depart? Are 2 hours enough? Thanks

More then enough. 10-15 minutes is most likely all he needs. Both flights will be arrive/depart from the Non-Schengen Area, either lounge 2 (gates D (lower-level) and E) or lounge 3 (gates F, G and H).

It'll be tight but completely doable. Just be sure to hurry and when you get to the immigration area be sure to scout out the "short connection" line if there is any sort of queue -- it was to the far right the last time I went through a couple months ago but they may not hold true with all the construction that's been going on.

Set. 8, traveling in the reverse, Schengen to non-S, airport staff were calling out "EU passports only" even though the signs above the automated machines area said US chip-enabled passports could use them.

The manual-processing line got really, really long and people were getting sweaty (including me), when another uniformed staffer said "US passports that look like this [finger pointing to small rectangular gold leaf logo that, to me, sort of looks like a chip], CAN use the automated line!" The two "EU only!" uniformed yellers looked confused and a bit put out.

A minor stampede happened, but we got through, with a few USers seeming to be flummoxed by the machines.

I hope AMS staff get clearer about the automated lines soon. In early Oct I have a moderately tight (70 mins) AMS-PRG connecx with the onward flight at noon. If I miss it, I'll have 4+ hours in AMS till the next flight. Not quite long enough to really go into town, not meaningfully, anyway. I'd have Crown Lounge access as a GM, though, wouldn't I if I miss-connect? I'm never completely sure on post-Int'l connecting lounge rules, I've rarely had need.

Transited in both directions over the past week and the signs over the automated machines clearly said EU Passports only. Would have loved to use the automated lanes with my US Passport given the lines in the manual lanes.

60-minute connection today, transiting schengen to non-schengen. We arrived at our gate exactly on time and I was near the front of the plane so I got off quick. Hustled to passport control where the line was long, was shunted to the short connection line and got through with about 5-10 minutes wait total. Hustled to D1 and then hustled to over to the departure gate in the E Concourse. Walked up just as SKY priority boarding was being called.

I hate these really tight Schiphol connections but sometimes you cannot avoid them.

Huh. If I think about it, the signs indicating US passports could use the automated EU lines were maybe 15 or 20 meters back from the rope line before the machines, not directly over them. By the time I was up close, I was in the huge scrum and hearing the staff say "EU only".

Seems like the signage as well as the staff knowledge could use a significant tune-up? The machines accepted our chip-enabled US passports just fine, and the one staffer seemed just as firm in saying OK as the others were in saying No.

Going from non-Schengen to Schengen the self service gates only accept EU + Swiss. Going from Schengen to non-Schengen, the gates accept EU + Swiss + several others, including US. (The signs clearly state this.) This is probably also why the staff was confused.

Going from non-Schengen to Schengen is a bit of a mess now. Some big signs are up, but they haven't finished the reconstruction and so they're sort of in the wrong place. They have the tiny little signs at the entrance to the mazes, but the lines are usually way longer, so lots of people walk up confused then have to double back. And of course no priority line. Though the lack of security recheck was nice.

Also, apparently the self service gates open at 7am.

I've got 55 minutes at AMS:

KL CPH-AMS 1440-1605
KL AMS-ATL 1650-2020

I haven't transited AMS in five years, I take it this is going to be a little tight, yes?

Wouldn't worry too much, at around 16h00 you don't have to deal with the typical morning rush & that CPH-AMS flight is early most of the time.
Within 15-20 minutes you should have cleared passport control and Delta's PDC.

I think that ATL flight is KLM operated, and if so doesn't PDC only apply to DL operated flights?

Also, there should be a Quick Connect line at passport control if there is a backup.

Oooh & oops, if it's a KL6xx flight then indeed the PDC can be skipped.
