With the Boost and Accelerator, this might be attainable but nowhere does it say how to jump up from a complimentary status to another level.
No. You still start the year at $0 MQD.

I believe you'll still have the option to convert your MQM to RDM if you're going to qualify for Diamond anyway.

Well, the game continues for a little while longer.
If DL doesn't extend choice benefits to those who extend their status with MQMs rather than "earned status" then the glut of high status flyers (extended plus new), particularly from this hub flyer will remove both reasons I went for status in the first place. They've pulled the "earned status" trick before to deny choice benefits.

And this was one benefit that could be used for somebody else and didn't have to be your hotel stay.

They tested this program earlier this year, and some non-prepaids earned while others did not. See: Promo Thru March 31: MQDs for Hotel and Rental Cars booked through DL.com

So in 2024, we all start at 0 MQD's. Since I have the Delta Amex Reserve, I'll get the $2500 MQD boost and still need to earn $12,500 in MQD's for Platinum. If I do nothing, I'll be Gold.

To clarify how I am reading this 100k MQM status extension:

Someone has 400,000 MQM currently and has (or will) qualify for Diamond by end of this year (resulting in 2024 Diamond status)

400k - 125k (for 2024 DM) = 275,000 MQM

Rules state that you have until Dec 31, 2024 to choose what to do with your extra MQMs.

Here's the question/clarification:

If the Diamond wants to run for that last 25k of MQM so that they can get a full 3 years of extension, they must still accrue those last 25k MQM by Dec 31 of THIS YEAR, correct? Because as of Jan 1 2024, there are no more MQMs. If my logic is correct, then be careful with the Dec 31, 2024 language everyone. You won't be able to add to your MQM balance after 2023 calendar year ends.

I used round numbers above in my example, but in my personal case, I need 21000 MQM to round up to another year. I have about 15k booked from now to Christmas. I need to find that last 6000 somewhere. I think finding 6000 MQM for another year of DM is worth it.

Delighted with these changes. I was not as upset as many at the original changes, as I've recently retired and had accepted that at least I'd maintain Gold as a 2MM (and during my working years, the new MQD levels would not have been a problem).

VERY happy with the enhancement to Platinum for 2MM. I was at 2.8 MM (as well as 1MM with AA) and there was no incentive to push for 3MM. Just wish they had rolled this out with the original announcement as I've put 30K of spend that was originally earmarked for the DL Reserve card elsewhere over the past month due to the program changes. So - time to get busy earning MQMs before year end to bring me closer to the 3MM level!

Taking the credit card usage to the extreme-

Under the old system, with no flying, You would need to spend $800 in annual fees, and put $170k on a Delta Plat and Reserve combined to get Platinum Status and Unlimited Skyclub visits

Under the new system, $1050 in annual fees and $75k on the Reserve... gets you the same thing, plus an extra companion pass.
I will never understand why status and unlimited Skyclub visits are desired if someone doesn't fly. Can anyone explain this to me? Thanks!
