Solves my problem with the changes. At ~1.75M MQMs and 3M miles, I actually am better off sticking with Delta. Ill complete my status match with UA 1K, but only as a backup
Ed and company did the right thing(s). Bravo

It looks like Delta will be rolling back some of the qualification changes after "We received valuable feedback from our SkyMiles Members about changes to our SkyMiles Program".

This feels like dickering with a street vendor in a 3rd-world bazaar.
Reminiscent of the scene in Casablanca when Ingrid Bergman is considering buying some lace and the vendor quotes an astronomical price initially, only to drastically reduce it when Bogart walks up.
Ed has not made a drastic change from his original offer, but the concept remains the same. Shoot for the moon initially, then react to the resistance.

As a newly minted 2MM I too am surprised at the significant Platinum status granted. Never saw that coming. I really don't get the Amex Platinum changes either, I started the card with access to AA, US Air and DL lounges at a lot less cost than today. Are they really going to try to convince people that this is still a $695 card? This will have to cost Amex a small fortune in revenue and I can't imagine what they feel they will replace this benefit with.

Doing the right thing would have been not proposing such draconian changes in the first place.
Proposing something outrageous so that folks will feel accommodated by the follow-up proposal (which still has onerous aspects) does not warrant a bravo.

I am very happy to see the MM changes. As a 4MM I definitely like the upgrade to annual complimentary Diamond. And am less than 100k from 5MM for 360. I should reach 5MM by the end of 2025 without any extra “gymnastics” to do so.
I would love to see the numbers that made Ed eat crow to this extent. They must have been phenomenally bad.

This is a substantial improvement.
- Most of us want to see fewer elites at the higher levels and less crowed lounges at peak times in hubs.
- The MM changes were particularly appreciated--it not only is competitive to UA, it recognizes the long-term loyalty many of us have provided. (I hope AA steps up...their MM is uncompetitive to DL/UA).
- The MQDs we accumulated now can be applied to several years and not "lost"

Based on flights for the rest of the year, I will enter 2024 as a Platinum with about 40K to 50K rollover miles... Meaning I will star the year with
4K to 5K MQD from rollover
2.5K MQD "head start"
At this point... does spending $75K on a Reserve actually make sense? That gets me to almost $15,000 MQD. Not a stretch to add another 13K in flying to hit Diamond by 2025.

During 2024 we will still need to select whatever rollover MQM's we had left to convert to either MQD's or Miles, correct?
Did the 2:1 conversion of MQM's to Miles change?
Did the 20:1 conversion of MQM's to MQD's change?
Thanks!
