Delta Announcing Changes to Status Qualification

This is a substantial improvement.
- Most of us want to see fewer elites at the higher levels and less crowed lounges at peak times in hubs.
- The MM changes were particularly appreciated--it not only is competitive to UA, it recognizes the long-term loyalty many of us have provided. (I hope AA steps up...their MM is the uncompetitive to DL/UA).
- The MQDs we accumulated now can be applied to several years and not "lost"
and this just increased the number of elites. You have people like me that arent flying much at all who just became platinum for the foreseeable future. You have people on here have never been close to making 360 who are already talking about how theyre going to make 360 on this program. the number of elites is going up, not down and those who whine when you dont get upgraded every time - prepare to be unhappy

Everyone is jumping up and down for joy, but take a step back and remember: 1) there is still FCM with lack of upgrades how it was pre-COVID; 2) Delta showed their hand and it took national media news coverage that the 9/15 program changes caused so much anger and credit card cancellation.
Dont be short sighted by forgetting how yall felt on 9/14. Delta showed its hand already on 9/14 and its only a mater of time before 9/14 program changes becomes reality, maybe not in 2024, but maybe now 2026.

Obviously it is nice not to have to spend so much money to get status. I do wonder about whether this keeps the Medallion ranks overcrowded, reducing the value for true road warriors. The people I know who were most upset about the previously announced changes don't fly that much but are currently high level Medallions thanks to covid rollovers.

Ok, so Delta went from making it impossible to earn more than silver for me next year, to making it easier for me to earn Platinum next year than under the old system... Go figure.
Taking the credit card usage to the extreme-
Under the old system, with no flying, You would need to spend $800 in annual fees, and put $170k on a Delta Plat and Reserve combined to get Platinum Status and Unlimited Skyclub visits
Under the new system, $1050 in annual fees and $75k on the Reserve... gets you the same thing, plus an extra companion pass.

I am so incredibly thrilled. I was minted as a 2MM a few weeks ago. I'm 36, so lifetime Platinum has some perks!
I'm going qualify for 2024 diamond and on top of that, I'll rollover more than 700,000 MQMs. So, that means a 7 year extension of my DM status. I am *very* happy!

I wouldn't celebrate just yet. They can and will change the game at any point in the future as they've done countless times. Enjoy the benefits/status while they stand but I wouldn't bank on them as permanent change.

The only reason I have a Reserve card is for sky club access. Seems to make sense to downgrade the card and just buy a club membership. That's what I did before I had the Reserve.
Am I missing a better way to get unlimited access? I'm in a club at least twice a week.

Sock drawer two cards for $800. Spend $0 = FO, $5k = GM, $10k = PM, $23k = DM.
Old system: Cards don't matter. Spend $3k = FO, $8k = GM, $12k = PM, $20k = DM.
This is going to create fewer elites?

Either DL foregoes CC money from AMEX and pisses off shareholders by missing their $10B CC revenue goal, or they piss off customers with far less UGs and crowded SCs. We know where DL's loyalty truly lies.

Im not happy they rolled a lot of this back. Fewer elites was going to be appreciated on all levels (and yes, I would fall too).

So, if DL has a bunch of MMers that don't fly DL or ST, it costs DL essentially nothing. If they fly DL or ST occasionally, it may cost just a little bit, far offset by the revenue received. Given the current state of affairs, it may cost DL an occasional Y+ seat, an even rarer F upgrade (both no cost items - those seats will be given away for free to someone), and occasionally, an extra free bag.
