What a joke. Get the DL Amex Platinum and DL Amex Business Platinum and on Jan 1 you earn Silver without leaving your bed to spend or fly for just $500. Plus 2 companion certs and some SC visits.

A slight variation on this question is if we reach diamond within 2024 it is technically our status at the end of the year, correct? Thus could we roll those MQMs over at the end of 2024 100K/year with status earned in 2024?

My biggest issue was, as I have called it repeatedly, including in the letter I sent Ed Bastian, the punitive devaluation of rollover MQM. I expected Delta to do something about rollover MQM at some point, but in my case they were taking away enough MQM for two years of Platinum and not even giving me enough for Gold, that was a complete joke. On top of that I now get Gold every year after that as a lowly 1MM, I can live with the changes. The main question for me is whether I keep my Delta Reserve or only my AMEX Platinum, I may go AMEX Platinum and just not worry about Delta except when it's clearly the best option over AA.
Yes, the comparison of how you earned status qualification for car rentals and hotels was completely different between AA and DL, basically any miles you earn on AA with a few limited exceptions count towards status, Delta tried to copy but really restricted the mechanism. I'm actually surprised they walked back that change, seems like it should have still been lucrative for them.

I never saw a benefit to renting cars or hotels thru DL. Rates always seem to be much better using conventional booking methods.

That's a reasonable separation package for my situation.

do we really think the $2,500 "head start" is going to last beyond a year or two?
either way, it's further proof that all delta cares about is having the cobrand card, not actually flying
the mm enhancement seemed like a shiny carrot at first, but once that wore off I'm overall unimpressed with these rollbacks
perhaps if delta had not already wasted all of their trust and credibility, I could see these changes as something more than attempting to stop the bleeding while still moving towards the same target, albeit a bit slower, but they have earned getting no benefit of the doubt from me

The 10:1 ratio is in the ballpark of AAs program of course AA counts spend on any AA card whereas of course you need the Reserve to get that ratio on DL.

This could go away a year from now, just as the disingenuous promise of lifetime club membership for Flying Colonels went away.

In summary, I am happy to see this as a new 2MM with 100K extra MQMs. I have to confess, though, with this walkback I do feel a little bit of the "if everyone is elite, nobody is", as I suspect I'm not the only moderate-value former mileage runner who will be boosted for another couple of years, and it's been many flights since I've sat in front as a Diamond! Well, the game continues for a little while longer.

It would have been useful in a pickle to book a $1,000 boutique or luxury hotel stay or something to get an extra MQD boost towards a status goal. I am actually disappointed this is no longer an option.
