Given how many rushed to cancel their Amex Platinum and Delta Reserve cards already, or to swear off flying Delta, that remains to be seen.

Not doubting that for a moment, I'm just surprised at the magnitude of the walkbacks. The response from folks outside of the FT (and r/delta) echo chambers must have been pretty seismic.

I am happier than a pig in a football stadium of slop! Just made 2MM so I can still be a free agent for cheaper tickets and when I fly delta I have the perks.

That's what it says! And oddly, that might make me more likely to book away from Delta (when it makes sense based on fare and timing), because now I'll have gold status automatically, and I don't see myself spending $15K in a typical year to hit platinum. On the other hand, these changes put me less than half a million miles away from annual platinum, so that might make me more likely to favor Delta. TBD!

My biggest surprise of all is they did nothing with the money earned on CC spending, still 20:1 and 10:1 unless I missed it......did I?

Breeze, Avelo and Allegiant just lost a prospective new customer and unless the Big D starts flying again from CAK, I won't fly from there.

Thank you, Delta.

Hum... if that is the case, 5k from Amex cards plus ~9k in converted MQMs makes 2025 Diamond potentially doable for me if 2024 is a heavier travel year... Would be a one time non reoccurring event because of the rollover, but sure would be fun.

It also reads like guest access follows the same visit rules as primary card access now where the $50 = a network wide SC daypass, essentially, which would be a pretty meaningful enhancement if true.
The text reads "Beginning February 2024, Delta SkyMiles Platinum, Platinum Business, Reserve and Reserve Business American Express Card Members will receive an MQD Headstart of $2,500 MQDs per Card for the current Medallion Qualification Year."

Personal Platinum Amex Skyclub Access?

No mention of personal Platinum American Express adjusted lounge access. Assume that means we are limited to 6 visits a year, which is a total joke.

Annual complimentary Gold is a big deal for this 1 MM.

They could always take away more benefits, but this is encouraging.

Status Extension

Im one of those folks with a rollover balance of 100k MQMs, and Im a DM now and requalified for next year. If I organically requalify for DM for 2025, does this mean the status extension (by exchanging 100K MQMs) gets extended until I choose to redeem itfor example, in 2026?

Im trying to map out my travels for 2024, and this seems like an important question that needs an answer

So, I have about 275K MQMs and have qualified for Diamond for 2024. Do I understand correctly that I can lock in Diamond status for 2025 by "donating" 100K of my remaining 150K miles? That would be great, one year of "no pressure" flying and, as others have noted, the opportunity to try other carriers....

Here is another quote from their page.....in very small letters.......no more MQD on hotel stays or car rentals.

"Given the latest changes, including the newly reduced MQD thresholds, MQDs will not be offered for Delta Car Rentals and Delta Stays bookings."
