To clarify how I am reading this 100k MQM status extension:
Someone has 400,000 MQM currently and has (or will) qualify for Diamond by end of this year (resulting in 2024 Diamond status)
400k - 125k (for 2024 DM) = 275,000 MQM
Rules state that you have until Dec 31, 2024 to choose what to do with your extra MQMs.
Here's the question/clarification:
If the Diamond wants to run for that last 25k of MQM so that they can get a full 3 years of extension, they must still accrue those last 25k MQM by Dec 31 of THIS YEAR, correct? Because as of Jan 1 2024, there are no more MQMs. If my logic is correct, then be careful with the Dec 31, 2024 language everyone. You won't be able to add to your MQM balance after 2023 calendar year ends.
I used round numbers above in my example, but in my personal case, I need 21000 MQM to round up to another year. I have about 15k booked from now to Christmas. I need to find that last 6000 somewhere. I think finding 6000 MQM for another year of DM is worth it.
