Question for y'all:

My dad is a DM, travelling today LAS-ATL-PBI. He was able to check in on the app last night, though he didn't add boarding passes to his Passbook at that time. He tried to pull up his boarding passes earlier today on the way to the airport, but his reservation wasn't showing up anymore on the app. I tried to pull up the reservation on delta.com via ticket number, but it couldn't find squat.

Anyone else experience anything like this?

Yes....got the "it's time to check in" email yesterday and promptly checked in on my iPhone. Went to print BP today and my RT PDX-SEA-SAN doesn't even show on delta.com or my ap. Had the BP on my phone and made it through TSA fine.

Bastion's video apology seemed sincere. I appreciate his ability to deliver a real apology and not have it sound like scripted corporate nonsense written by lawyers.

3.5-4.5 hour wait time on general line right now. Was trying to call for a friend who will be delayed traveling CHS-ATL-HNL tomorrow based on crew availability for the CHS-ATL flight (educated guess). Yikes!

They called me back about four hours after I left my number -- and I was in the restroom without my phone!!!!

Now I'm in the queue again. I'm supposed to be called back from 2 hours, 58 minutes to 5 hours, 7 minutes from now.

I really wish I could just rebook this stupid ticket online! I'm not sure if it's because I'm going through 2 levels of travel agents at work (everyone wants a cut?) or if it's a general 'feature' of not being able to rebook canceled flights online.

@rabidstoat, could you contact your corporate travel agent? IIRC, travel agents are empowered to do some amount of rebooking on Delta's behalf.

Normally you can rebook them online. I am not sure if it is volume related or what but it wouldn't work yesterday or today.

That's terrible! I would contact the corporate travel agent. As mentioned above...they should be able to help you out.

On a side note...anyone seeing flight delays/cancellations posted for tomorrow yet?

I'm at MSP now and it doesn't look too bad. About a half dozen people are waiting for an agent to help them at the F/G SC. TSA lines are the best I've seen since the reconfiguration. No problem getting seats in the lounge.

ADDED. I spoke too soon. Now there are a bunch of screaming kid's in here. I think it's time to try Aspire or whatever it's called.

ADDED AGAIN. I became a SC refugee in the newish PP lounge. It was wonderfully quiet and peaceful. Decent F&B too, even from the free menu. Chardonney from the PSC area, a few pieces of baguette and rather nice cheese for the USA. Their Caesar salad looked good too.

Surprised you haven't tried the Escape lounge yet. It's better than any SC.

Yeah, good luck finding a vehicle. Hertz, Avis, Budget, National, Alamo, Enterprise... all sold out.

Well, there is always the buy a used or new car route and try to sell it at the destination, right? :D Or charter a private jet? Just not via DL, right? After all, it's a honeymoon and the sky is the limit when spending money. ;)

+1.

It's also not immediately obviously that the failure mode is consistent with a hack... either hackers are after sensitive info (CC #s, etc), in which case you don't want to take the system down, or hackers have some sort of political or blackmail like agenda, but that takes us down the tin foil hat path pretty quickly without any substantial evidence.

FWIW, it's really helpful to have knowledgable folks posting here, even if unofficially. Thanks to all y'all.

Well, you need to read up on military and infrastructure-targeted attacks then. Not asserting at all that this is what it is, but there is growing concern that other countries are exploring the vulnerabilities in our US industrial and energy grid control systems.

So I have a friend who just landed on a FCO-ATL return, connecting ATL-CAK, which is delayed 2 hours to currently depart around midnight. I'm going to bet this flight will ultimately cancel.

Southwest has a direct flight at 9:40 PM for $164. If my friend books and flies this flight:

1) Will there be a refund for the unflown segment on DL, assuming they cancel it?
2) What happens to their checked bags?

Edit: Nevermind on 2), got them to hold onto their bags after customs.

Stgermainparis Aug 9, 2016 4:13 pm

Still lots of flights getting canceled rather last minute at ATL. I'm confirmed on a flight but also #38 and #39 on a standby list for a flight at 2 am. I really hope it does not come to that. What is the most frustrating (though I know it is also frustrating to DL), is that there is no reliability on flight status. It is willy nilly. I'm wondering how much of this drink I can finish in the SC in B (bit of a dump, IMO) before my presumed departure in 50 minutes with no update on the status.

I'm thinking safe to wait for status to change to "boarding" (with confirmed seats). I'm about 6 gates away.

I would suggest to book the southwest ticket as you can cancel for free upto 10 minutes before departure. Can use the credit for the next 12 months. Else buy Business Select fares and get complete refund.
1. Yes. Even if they are only delayed you can get it refunded.
2. Pick the bags while clearing customs in ATL and dont check it back on if the flight is delayed too much or canceled.
