It was, yes it was. The outage was no piece of cake, either.

But not to worry, the C level managers will definitely make their bonuses for the year.

Had two competing trips this week...train to DC or Delta to ATL. I am so happy that I procrastinated until yesterday to decide...co-workers are still waiting for rebooked flights from early this morning. Amtrak it is.

For those flying, heartfelt good wishes.

Nice update.

Definitely better than SWA, which didn't even offer their customers hotels during their meltdown on 7/20.

Tell that to lots of people at NRT who had to sleep on the floor as was mentioned upthread. I refuse to believe that Tokyo had no rooms, so their staff there clearly dropped the ball.

Do you know what a one-way car rental -- if even available to them -- would cost? Not everyone is financially in the same financial position to do as you or I may.

I understand that but if you were going to "splurge" one time in your life I would think it would be on your honeymoon?

Yep...but, I think, after yesterday, that DT will still be available for quite awhile. We used DT from 4am til around 11'ish.

I know. It's nice that at the very least, DL got their act together and now made it official. I'm sure they'll compensate those people at NRT who were treated the way they were.

I got lucky - LAX-RDU was only 30 minutes delayed this morning.

It showed on-time until we passed boarding time. The plane wasn't there. Then they showed a 30-minute delay. I thought "no way are we boarding in 30 minutes."

The plane showed up 5 minutes later. It turns out that you can board an empty plane really quickly. We pushed back on time.

LAX Terminal 5, on the other hand, was a minor nightmare. I can't imagine what it's like in Atlanta.

The Sky Club was pretty full but wasn't selling day passes, so it was no worse than normal.

On the slightly ironic side of things..
I just popped over to Deltajobs.com and the following is posted...

Operations Manager IT - Crisis Management

The job was posted on 7/25

:D

If you hear "Plunk, Plunk, Plunk" that is the sound of dripping irony.

Seriously? But if you still arrive at your destination in a reasonable amount of time before your work there, you were the one inconvenienced, not the business!

Can you guys stop taking the B767 crews out of ATL please so I can get to ANC?!?

They are Mormons and newlyweds - regardless of the monetary outlay required, they are almost certainly younger than 25, and probably not going to be approved for a last minute, one-way car rental.

So I'm stuck in MSP for the night when my flight finally gets in from SEA. Anyways the agent told me that I'd be given a voucher for a hotel. Any ideas on where they put you up around MSP? I have a corporate rate I can use if they are not the best as I was told Delta would reimburse me within reason.

Good to know. Got barely any sleep last night to find out that there was just no chance of me getting home today. So, I'm a little awash rn; however, not looking forward to tomorrow. Especially seeing "Nonrev travel discouraged" plastered on dlnet.

But, ya' know. I don't mind Florida, so it's not too bad :)

Well, this is interesting - The "power outage" may just be a cover story for Delta actually being hacked.

Noticed it says "where available" and wonder what happens if someone gets their own room. No mention of reimbursement.
