Delta's Operational move from T5 to T2/3 at LAX:

Delta has moved to: T2 and T3 with eventual connector to TBIT (note: there is currently only airside bus service to stay securely between T2 & T3, the walking connector has not been built yet.)

Where to check bags: As of January 13, 2020, non-Sky Priority customers must check their bag(s) at the terminal their flight departs from, unless their flight departs from TBIT, in which case, they must check their bag at Terminal 2. Sky priority customers can check their bag at either terminal. See this link for more information.

Date(s) of move: May 12, 2017 - May 17, 2017

Here is a helpful chart from Delta which covers all Domestic / Int'l. transfer combos (AND TOTAL TRANSFER TIMES) between T2, T3 & TBIT.

New Bus Routes will help with connections:
- Circular Airfield Bus between TBIT, T2 and T3
- Airfield Bus between T2 and T3

Bus Map

Will there be a SkyClub: Yes, there is one in each terminal. Virgin Atlantic Clubhouse will remain.
- The SkyClub in T2 opened on May 20th (Former AC Maple Leaf Lounge)
pix in post 1058
- The SkyClub in T3 opened on May 24th (Former VX Loft)

https://www.delta.com/content/www/en...d-updates.html

Where Will The Delta One Check In Lounge Be Located:

Delta will temporarily offer dedicated check-in space in Terminal 2 (first door closest to T1) while a long-term Delta One experience is finalized.
In T2, there is a small Delta One seating area with refreshments. An agent will escort you from the check in/lounge area through a back pathway up stairs to TSA precheck. Its a shorter walk to check-in at SkyPriority and easier if you have a carry on and don't want to drag it up a flight of stairs. 11/3/17)

Airlines joining DL in T2/3 for landside and departures:
- AeroMexico (T2)
- Virgin Atlantic (T2)
- WestJet (T3)

Landside T2 only, departures from TBIT:
- Virgin Australia
- Volaris

Landside T3 only, departures from TBIT:
- Avianca/Taca
- Copa (effective April 7)
- InterJet

Will there be secure links between T2-T3 and TBIT: Yes, the final plan is to let pax walk between all airside.

That's completely disgusting and I would be horrified. That being said, I'm not sure that is a Sky Club cleanliness factor, but more of an LAX issue.

That was my conclusion too. I didn't make a big deal out of it with after the fact because the club agents were apologetic and, reading between the lines, it definitely sounded like a weary "we'll call LAWA for the eighth time this week for pest control" type situation to me... only so much you can do. I'm not too familiar with common pests in SoCal, but I find it hard to get too worked up about cockroaches after spending time in Hawaii, where they're a fact of island life no matter where you are...

For what its worth I've now taken about 10 flights out of T3 and probably another 5-8 out of T2 and from a pure logistics standpoint I think its a big improvement. CLEAR gets me through security in consistently short timeframes, walks to gates are never long, parking has been easy. Only complaint is that for those of us who park in P3 and come across the bridge to get to clear/precheck you have to go down an escalator and then back up another... whereas in T5 it was a straight shot Parking-Bridge-PreCheck.

Overall as a fairly heavy delta user at LAX i'm totally happy with the move.

Having done T-3 a number of times I can see at peak times it's a zoo until they renovate. However, the one thing that has really noticeable is that Delta have introduced the new pile inducing hard seat for all their terminals!! Whoever thought this is an improvement should probably be shot.

Flying out of T2 tomorrow Tuesday. 7:00 am flight LAX-DTW. I'm already checked in, NO luggage to check, first class seat, and TSA precheck. I'm planning on getting to LAX at 5:30, but haven't been to T2 since the big move.

What's the best T2 entrance to take to give me the easiest route to go straight to security? Like the entrance doors closer to T1 or T3? And once in, I'm assuming security is up an escalator?

Thanks.

Right past the entrance marked "2) DELTA SKY PRIORITY" (which is one of the first doors in T2) is where the escalator up to TSA is located.

The pedestrian overpass from the parking ramp is about the middle of the T2 "lobby" where you go up to TSA. So just before the overpass is a good drop off point.

Similar to how ties come back in fashion if you wait long enough, my old NW knowledge has become useful again Except I keep wanting to go to the Virgin club (where the Worldclub used to be).

Used T2 for the first time yesterday. The Delta One check in area is pretty lame, just three desks shoved against a far wall and the agent working wasn't overly friendly. My brother I was traveling with didn't have PreCheck and getting through security at 6:30 AM thanks to the priority line was pretty easy. The gate areas are not the best but the main parts of the terminal once post security are quite impressive.

As for the Skyclub, it's good and in my opinion an improvement over Terminal 5 though nothing too special. I did like the fact that there's free pour booze though.

I have a flight to and from SJC scheduled to arrive and depart from Terminal 3. Between the two Sky Clubs which is better? I am very familiar with this territory as I flew on Virgin America and Alaska and used the T 3 Board Room and Virgin Loft and I remember the 1970s mosaic tunnel.

To me the move is a nostalgic one cpming home to the old NWA and TWA Ambassadors Lounge and Terminal. So for me I can wait for the upgrades and yes I fondly remember the Mc Donalds long gone.

What I love about the old Boardroom and Loft is that floor to ceiling window. From the T6 Boardroom you can look directly accross the tarmac and see the T3 Boardroom.

I remember American being here as a teenager before moving to T4 and the Ambassadors Lounge became a Admirals Club. Is my memory correct? Reno Air used to fly out of here too so as a Kid Terminal 2 and 3 was my home.

Anyone else here feeling my nostalgia and going back in time? For me I am back at my second home at LAX as a child teen and adult as was SW Terminal 1.

This is an upgrade for me being able to use the terminals of heyday and today.

Thoughts?

Had a 1hr T2->T3 connection this morning. Touched down early, which meant our gate wasn't ready yet. Parked right on schedule. Shuttle bus ride was very quick too, but then in an amusing sort of parallel we got stuck behind three other shuttle buses in front of us waiting to drop off/reload. Drive time: under 2 minutes. Wait time: 7+ minutes. Still made the connection with no problem though.

Didn't have the chance to look today, and the last time I went through LAX the T3 club wasn't open yet, but unless you have a long layover, given the vagaries of the bus (however quick it may be in most circumstances) you might want to just remain in T3.

Thanks. On the outbound back to San Jose I will have enough time so what I will do is drop my bags off at Terminal 2 even if my flight is out of Terminal 3 if this works and just do TSA Pre Check and head over to the Terminal 2 SkyClub.

At the T2 Sky Club the alcohol is self-pour am I right? Is the liquor the same as the complimentary liquor you would get over at the old T 5 Sky Club? I was hoping to get some St.Germain Edelflower for a premium pour.

So as I take it Lyft/Uber is on the Departure level between Terminal 2 and 3.
Thanks again.

You can't drop your bags at T2 (even if departing from T2) as DL sorts check in by destination and T2 check in is for ATL/JFK/DTW/Hawaii/and International only. You must check in at T3. (You can still go through security at T2)

The T6 Boardroom faces T7, not T3, which is on the opposite side of the horseshoe (Worldway). For a short period of time, from about the time it bought Reno Air until a few months to a year after 9/11 , AA operated out of both T4 and T3; T3 served mostly former Reno Air destinations. I don't recall if the Ambassadors Club in T3 was rebranded into the Admirals Club after the AA/TWA merger before it ultimately became the Alaska Boardroom.

Thanks again.
UberX is on departure level for both dropoff and pickup. However UberBlack/SUV can pickup on arrival level. This causes confusion. I normally book UberBlack and have to argue with the porter/wheelchair pusher (sometimes travel with mother) that can indeed be picked up on arrivals level.

As for checkin, as other user noted, bags must be dropped off at terminal corresponding to your destination from LAX, not final destination. This is true even if the flight will happen to operate from the other terminal that day.

Just flew in for the first time since the switch. Aer Leungus was occupying gate next to our flight. Why didn't they switch to TBI? Seems odd to have left them in terminal 2
