Delta's Operational move from T5 to T2/3 at LAX:

Delta has moved to: T2 and T3 with eventual connector to TBIT (note: there is currently only airside bus service to stay securely between T2 & T3, the walking connector has not been built yet.)

Where to check bags: As of January 13, 2020, non-Sky Priority customers must check their bag(s) at the terminal their flight departs from, unless their flight departs from TBIT, in which case, they must check their bag at Terminal 2. Sky priority customers can check their bag at either terminal. See this link for more information.

Date(s) of move: May 12, 2017 - May 17, 2017

Here is a helpful chart from Delta which covers all Domestic / Int'l. transfer combos (AND TOTAL TRANSFER TIMES) between T2, T3 & TBIT.

New Bus Routes will help with connections:
- Circular Airfield Bus between TBIT, T2 and T3
- Airfield Bus between T2 and T3

Bus Map

Will there be a SkyClub: Yes, there is one in each terminal. Virgin Atlantic Clubhouse will remain.
- The SkyClub in T2 opened on May 20th (Former AC Maple Leaf Lounge)
pix in post 1058
- The SkyClub in T3 opened on May 24th (Former VX Loft)

https://www.delta.com/content/www/en...d-updates.html

Where Will The Delta One Check In Lounge Be Located:

Delta will temporarily offer dedicated check-in space in Terminal 2 (first door closest to T1) while a long-term Delta One experience is finalized.
In T2, there is a small Delta One seating area with refreshments. An agent will escort you from the check in/lounge area through a back pathway up stairs to TSA precheck. Its a shorter walk to check-in at SkyPriority and easier if you have a carry on and don't want to drag it up a flight of stairs. 11/3/17)

Airlines joining DL in T2/3 for landside and departures:
- AeroMexico (T2)
- Virgin Atlantic (T2)
- WestJet (T3)

Landside T2 only, departures from TBIT:
- Virgin Australia
- Volaris

Landside T3 only, departures from TBIT:
- Avianca/Taca
- Copa (effective April 7)
- InterJet

Will there be secure links between T2-T3 and TBIT: Yes, the final plan is to let pax walk between all airside.

Agreed! I'm also going to try taking a Lyft TO the airport for the first time. I like taxis, because I know they all have the fastpass for carpool lanes, and they generally fly from downtown to LAX, 110 to 105 to Sepulveda. However, it's always a hassle trying to pay them via credit card, and their machine "just happens" to be broken that day.

Hopefully after a few billion dollars Delta will be able to make this not look like a Soviet Hospital... the Saarinen Terminal they tore down at JFK was in better shape than this terminal presently...
Minor nitpick- the Saarinen-designed terminal at JFK was T5 and is currently standing as the entrance to jetBlue's rebuilt terminal. Delta was in the former PanAm Worldport terminal, T3, which was far less architecturally notable.

I also happen to think LAX T3 is _slightly_ better than JFK T3 was at its worst, which isn't saying much at all. They are definitely in the same league as each other.

I was in LAX today and my ride was about an hour away so had some time to kill and had no checked luggage so decided to take the bus to TBIT and take the LONG walk over to T5. I couldn't take any pics as I needed to conserve my phones battery but my observations were that LAWA never removed the DL branding in the T5-T6 Tunnel. The old SC was cordoned off and you could see the letters for the old CRC logo. It just felt weird not being DL and I have never seen the hold rooms for Gates 54-59 so empty. Also the old big DL widget by security was gone and is just a blue background. Also on my bus ride to TBIT, some PAX gong to MCO at Gate 133 were complaining to the Bus Driver why it showed T2 on the DL App even though it is really in TBIT.

The T2 for gate 133 was discussed above. Though i thought MCO would show T3.

I have a 9:30am LAX-ATL flight on a 777 on a Friday (DL #174 ). I have pre check and just carry ons. Would getting to T2 at 8:30 be okay?

I'd get there at 8 just to be safe, but T2 is pretty small so I don't think 8:30 would be a problem.

I also miss the marble and the beautiful sky lights and certainly the sky club. However, DL long ago outgrew the capacity of T5, not only in amount of flights but in size of gate areas.

Some of the gates closer to security were clearly not intended for the amount of pax that were often trying to use them (remember those gates that were awkwardly shoved into corners?), and don't forget the almost guarantee of waiting on the tarmac for a gate to become available upon landing.

Operationally T-5 just did not meet DL's current needs, let alone allow any room for growth.

Love LAX, but T-5 could really be packed when used by Delta. Just a mob scene. Even though I really enjoyed LAX, I never looked forward to the crowds at T-5 while Delta was there. Hopefully T-2 / T-3 will alleviate this (long term).

I didn't see showers in T3, but T2 has them but they are under renovation and not open yet.

T2 showers are open, I used them last week. Not very nice though...at all. Tiny "suites" -- not sure you can even call them that, the floor (which is painted a really ugly brown/grey-ish color if I recall correctly) was dirty with work boot prints, I had to ask for the mini M+G bottles to avoid using the dispensers which were almost empty...not ideal.

Terrible. The shower rooms are supposed to be reset between each use, with a full cleaning.

Came in on DL yesterday into T2 and had a hour to kill before my ride got to LAX so took the bus to TBIT and walked over to T5 and it was weird because I have never seen the terminal so empty. (This was at 3pm) The AA side was a little crowded but the Gate 54-59 section was pretty deserted unlike the mob that was when DL was there. If I was at LAX 2 years ago and someone put me in a time machine to now, I would have thought DL had cut a lot of flights from LAX.

It's possible - likely, even - that the boot prints were from the cleaning crew on their way out after cleaning the room. I know I've certainly left my share of obvious shoeprints in recently mopped office bathrooms, and I assume the same can be true of tile floors in the shower suites. Something they should be more cautious of, for sure, but not necessarily an indication the rooms weren't reset properly.

IMO, the true low bar for cleanliness was actually the old T5 LAX club, where a live cockroach ran out of the drain at me last year while I was disrobed and showering. After yelping and flailing at it with a shoe, the shower attendant actually knocked on the door to ask if I was okay. (I was, and I was also victorious against the roach.) The club attendants seemed pretty nonplussed when I brought it to their attention, so I somehow suspect I wasn't the first to report a similar issue...

Thanks, I guess I'll have to shower at DTW then
