Delta's Operational move from T5 to T2/3 at LAX:

Delta has moved to: T2 and T3 with eventual connector to TBIT (note: there is currently only airside bus service to stay securely between T2 & T3, the walking connector has not been built yet.)

Where to check bags: As of January 13, 2020, non-Sky Priority customers must check their bag(s) at the terminal their flight departs from, unless their flight departs from TBIT, in which case, they must check their bag at Terminal 2. Sky priority customers can check their bag at either terminal. See this link for more information.

Date(s) of move: May 12, 2017 - May 17, 2017

Here is a helpful chart from Delta which covers all Domestic / Int'l. transfer combos (AND TOTAL TRANSFER TIMES) between T2, T3 & TBIT.

New Bus Routes will help with connections:
- Circular Airfield Bus between TBIT, T2 and T3
- Airfield Bus between T2 and T3

Bus Map

Will there be a SkyClub: Yes, there is one in each terminal. Virgin Atlantic Clubhouse will remain.
- The SkyClub in T2 opened on May 20th (Former AC Maple Leaf Lounge)
pix in post 1058
- The SkyClub in T3 opened on May 24th (Former VX Loft)

https://www.delta.com/content/www/en...d-updates.html

Where Will The Delta One Check In Lounge Be Located:

Delta will temporarily offer dedicated check-in space in Terminal 2 (first door closest to T1) while a long-term Delta One experience is finalized.
In T2, there is a small Delta One seating area with refreshments. An agent will escort you from the check in/lounge area through a back pathway up stairs to TSA precheck. Its a shorter walk to check-in at SkyPriority and easier if you have a carry on and don't want to drag it up a flight of stairs. 11/3/17)

Airlines joining DL in T2/3 for landside and departures:
- AeroMexico (T2)
- Virgin Atlantic (T2)
- WestJet (T3)

Landside T2 only, departures from TBIT:
- Virgin Australia
- Volaris

Landside T3 only, departures from TBIT:
- Avianca/Taca
- Copa (effective April 7)
- InterJet

Will there be secure links between T2-T3 and TBIT: Yes, the final plan is to let pax walk between all airside.

No problem with taking the shuttle air side to KE lounge and back to T2. Just make sure you leave enough time. The shuttle ride can take up to 30 minutes due to taxiway traffic.

Why? That lounge is terrible, an embarassment to SkyTeam, not worth even 10 extra steps let alone time waiting for a shuttle.

Hi,

Flying LAX-SYD on DL41 and it looks like this flight is departing out of T3 at gate 38. I am in D1 with BP in hand. Any reason to go through security in T2 instead of T3 as DL seems to point passengers this way?

If you have a bag, you'll have to check it at T2. But once you've done that, you should walk landside over to T3 and use security there; there's no advantage to clearing security at T2 and it will slow you down because you then have to wait for the airside bus to T3.

The reason would be to use the SC in T2 before heading over to T3. Not that the T2 club in its current state is exceptional, but as compared to the opulent splendor of the current state of the T3 club, I'd spend more time @ T2.

The one nice thing about the T3 club is it has amazing runway views, with 24L and 24R almost close enough to touch. If you're into that kind of thing.

Oh, it is "better." I don't recall if I was ever in there as a TW lounge (I believe AS pax were able to use it near the end). Then, it was an AA lounge, then the AS lounge, then the VX lounge, and now the DL lounge. I suppose its best days (other than likely decades ago in the early days @ TW), were as VX in its beginning. It has never been as crowded as now with the DL lipstick on the door. Believe it or not, the terminal itself was in a nastier state of (dis)repair prior to some VX paint. And, FWIW, the toilets in the lounge have finally been replaced with artifacts that actually flush on the first flush.

It's better than it was just a few months ago. I'd now call it "average" as domestic terminals go. SC was crowded when I was in there, but that's equally true at the other DL hubs. I actually thought this one was nicer than the windowless cave at SLC, for example.

Also on the plus side, the Clear staff were amazing when I went through a couple weeks back.

Same story for me - did the LAX/SFO a couple of times last week, boarding as PREM and really liked how it's halfway down the gate area away from the hordes in the T3 circle.

Oooof, do I miss T5. Finally had to travel to/from LAX - first time since the terminal move. What on earth happened? Was hoping things would have settled out by now. T2 and T3 are awful. The lack of signage. The Priority luggage check @ T2 in the most illogical place. The inability to tell whether it's best (or even possible) to walk landslide to T3 or take the shuttle (more signage issues). That's all practical - and to add to it, the aesthetics are awful. Didn't have time to visit a SC, but I will next month. I hope things improve by then...

This is the "new and improved" LAX experience for you. When I first flew to LAX after the move, it was less than a week after and the signage was 10x worse than it is now but it's still is pretty bad now. When you go back next month, if you can avoid the T3 SC at all, I would. The T3 SC has to be the worst in the system with it always being woefully overcrowded and the food options suck. Use the T2 SC if you can to have a more bearable experience.

The DL LAX experience is still very much a work in process. T3 will be gutted and rebuilt. A new flagship SkyClub is coming on the roof. Airside walkways are coming

Am I the only one who has waited in the Sky Priority line, once for almost 5 minutes, before realizing that *everbody* including the ticketing agents were speaking Spanish and finally noticing that it was AeroMexico checkin?

I have also jumped the gun on the right turn to T2 baggage claim escalator and taken the scenic route via ticketing
