Delta's Operational move from T5 to T2/3 at LAX:
Delta has moved to: T2 and T3 with eventual connector to TBIT (note: there is currently only airside bus service to stay securely between T2 & T3, the walking connector has not been built yet.)
Where to check bags: As of January 13, 2020, non-Sky Priority customers must check their bag(s) at the terminal their flight departs from, unless their flight departs from TBIT, in which case, they must check their bag at Terminal 2. Sky priority customers can check their bag at either terminal. See this link for more information.
Date(s) of move: May 12, 2017 - May 17, 2017
Here is a helpful chart from Delta which covers all Domestic / Int'l. transfer combos (AND TOTAL TRANSFER TIMES) between T2, T3 & TBIT.
New Bus Routes will help with connections:
- Circular Airfield Bus between TBIT, T2 and T3
- Airfield Bus between T2 and T3
Bus Map
Will there be a SkyClub: Yes, there is one in each terminal. Virgin Atlantic Clubhouse will remain.
- The SkyClub in T2 opened on May 20th (Former AC Maple Leaf Lounge)
pix in post 1058
- The SkyClub in T3 opened on May 24th (Former VX Loft)

Where Will The Delta One Check In Lounge Be Located:
In T2, there is a small Delta One seating area with refreshments. An agent will escort you from the check in/lounge area through a back pathway up stairs to TSA precheck. Its a shorter walk to check-in at SkyPriority and easier if you have a carry on and don't want to drag it up a flight of stairs. 11/3/17)
Airlines joining DL in T2/3 for landside and departures:
- AeroMexico (T2)
- Virgin Atlantic (T2)
- WestJet (T3)
Landside T2 only, departures from TBIT:
- Virgin Australia
- Volaris
Landside T3 only, departures from TBIT:
- Avianca/Taca
- Copa (effective April 7)
- InterJet
Will there be secure links between T2-T3 and TBIT: Yes, the final plan is to let pax walk between all airside.

The reviews of the EK lounge are very positive and I hope to survive the 5 hour layover there, although EY seems okay.
However, if there is some kind of glitch do I not have access to a different TBIT lounge based on DM status?

Based on my experience 3 weeks ago, DM status, 006 ticket, DL flight number, VA operated in business class gets you in to the Emirates lounge with no problem. But told at the KE operated ST lounge that operating carrier determines access, so ‘no.’ Didn’t argue, the Emirates lounge is quite nice and not crowded since it is only open for the 2 VA flights at that time, really empties out when the SYD flight leaves; the BNE flight is about 90 minutes later.
But there is no view from the Emirates lounge. Two or three years ago, flying VA to BNE, it was the *A NZ lounge that VA used. That was very nice.

Do you have any memory about what time of day the Emirate lounge opens?

I sought clarification about this because of a post in another place that said Emirates may open only 3 hours prior to the VA #2 LAX-SYD departure.

I am a VA biz passenger on a DL D1 ticket with a 5 hour layover at LAX.

From my experience the EY lounge was open at 6 pm.

Another thread posted the change from EY to EK on 11/11/17. My flight is Thanksgiving weekend.

I'm transiting LAX tomorrow for the first time since the move. Will have ~2 hrs to entertain myself. Don't really need food as I'll have a meal on my inbound.
Anything of note to explore in the new terminal, or should I just immediately hoof it up to the nearest SC?

There's some decent food options in T2/3, but I'd get to the T2 lounge if that works out for you. T3 is small and I was denied entry last Friday around 9 am because it was at capacity (it's very small). I was offered to go to T2 (15 minute bus ride each way) or a $15 meal voucher (which doesn't cover much)

I didn't know from quick skimming of the the wiki/thread if there was like an art exhibit worth walking by or a cool place outside the clubs to plane spot or anything like that. I'm sure I'll give the terminal a circuit regardless just to stretch my legs.

I got to LAX 3 hours before my flight Tuesday morning and, once through security (which I cleared at T2 in about 5 minutes at 0630), took the shuttle bus over to T3 to check out the SkyClub, once the TWA Ambassador Club. I'll post some pictures on the thread devoted to the T3 club.
Since my only other visit to T3 (on a flight from SJC in July, a few days after DL made the big move there), DL has cleaned up T3, so that it looks and feels somewhat less third-world-like. I actually enjoyed the club. The bar is a horseshoe shape with a black counter, and has a bartender, who was a real nice guy. Rather than a buffet of different foods as in T2, there is a refrigerated case with the same food items packaged in plastic containers for "grab and go". There was a self-service soft-drink dispenser. The lounge size is what it is; I'm not sure that TWA controlled 13 gates, which is how many there are now in T3. In other words, I think this club is better than you've been told.
The concierges at the front desk told me that as part of the pedestrian bridge between T2 and T3, a new SkyClub with 47,000 sq. feet of space will be constructed on top. Construction on this did not appear to have been started; probably one of the coming attractions in 2020-21.
Also, the shuttle from the Hertz lot at Airport Blvd & Arbor Vitae Street to T2 took less than 5 minutes, which is a real plus.
