Delta's Operational move from T5 to T2/3 at LAX:

Delta has moved to: T2 and T3 with eventual connector to TBIT (note: there is currently only airside bus service to stay securely between T2 & T3, the walking connector has not been built yet.)

Where to check bags: As of January 13, 2020, non-Sky Priority customers must check their bag(s) at the terminal their flight departs from, unless their flight departs from TBIT, in which case, they must check their bag at Terminal 2. Sky priority customers can check their bag at either terminal. See this link for more information.

Date(s) of move: May 12, 2017 - May 17, 2017

Here is a helpful chart from Delta which covers all Domestic / Int'l. transfer combos (AND TOTAL TRANSFER TIMES) between T2, T3 & TBIT.

New Bus Routes will help with connections:
- Circular Airfield Bus between TBIT, T2 and T3
- Airfield Bus between T2 and T3

Bus Map

Will there be a SkyClub: Yes, there is one in each terminal. Virgin Atlantic Clubhouse will remain.
- The SkyClub in T2 opened on May 20th (Former AC Maple Leaf Lounge)
pix in post 1058
- The SkyClub in T3 opened on May 24th (Former VX Loft)

https://www.delta.com/content/www/en...d-updates.html

Where Will The Delta One Check In Lounge Be Located:

Delta will temporarily offer dedicated check-in space in Terminal 2 (first door closest to T1) while a long-term Delta One experience is finalized.
In T2, there is a small Delta One seating area with refreshments. An agent will escort you from the check in/lounge area through a back pathway up stairs to TSA precheck. Its a shorter walk to check-in at SkyPriority and easier if you have a carry on and don't want to drag it up a flight of stairs. 11/3/17)

Airlines joining DL in T2/3 for landside and departures:
- AeroMexico (T2)
- Virgin Atlantic (T2)
- WestJet (T3)

Landside T2 only, departures from TBIT:
- Virgin Australia
- Volaris

Landside T3 only, departures from TBIT:
- Avianca/Taca
- Copa (effective April 7)
- InterJet

Will there be secure links between T2-T3 and TBIT: Yes, the final plan is to let pax walk between all airside.

That would be nice, but the quickest and easiest way to do that now is grab some commuter slots (25 available) and use CRJ7 to SLC and SEA. Use the 4 air-carrier slots they have now for MSP/ATL. I just don't see it happening, but LGB would be awesome.

DL did try to grab the 2 slots AA gave up last month, but they both went to WN. I assume that the request was to try to slow down WN, but they failed.

would it be possible to make this thread a sticky for the time being until the move is complete. as it seems we are still missing all lounge info. We know how huge projects go, this might slip and this would be a good source of info.

I know that the overall concept of TBIT airlines checking in at T2 and T3 is due to this, I already said that earlier in this thread.

What I meant is that the reason the Virgin Australia check-in is moving to T2, farther away from TBIT, instead of staying in T3 where it is now, is so it can be with its partner Delta. I was wrong to say "alliance" though as VA isn't in SkyTeam.

But DL will be in both T2 and T3. I guess we don't know much about the details of how the check-in counters at the two terminals will be configured; I would guess this has something to do with the layout. Since Customs is at T2 (and will stay there?), maybe DL has all their long haul flights out of T2 and will have check-in marked "international" there too. But it strikes me as odd.

kind of looks like an opportunity to replicate the JFK flight numbering scheme ... 20-29, 200-299, and 2000-2999 departing from T2; 30-39, 300-399, and 3000-3999 departing from T3

Good point, I forgot about that. T3 sucks. I don't see how they're going to be able to do an actual good renovation of it while it's still in active use, the whole thing needs to be torn down.

The plan is indeed to tear down T3 and build a new one. The current structure is not up to seismic standards and needs to be demolished. I agree, no clue what DL will do during that time

I presume you would get your BP's for SYD/AKL at OKC.

Airside bus from T2/T3 to TBIT.

Lounge depends upon class of service/status.

What lounge do DM's get at TBIT when travelling VA from LAX currently?

None, AFAIK. Don't see why that would change. DL Gold+ can of course use the Sky Club in T5 before bussing over to T5; I assume that would continue.

Sometime next decade, TBIT and T2/T3 will be connected airside without a bus, solving this.

VA is using the Emirates lounge in TBIT for its elites and business passengers, unfortunately I don't think you can get access to this on the basis of Delta status.

I thought they were moving to using them. I thought they still used the *A lounge.

As a DM I know I was given access to *A lounge when in Y. While there I was also given an OP UP.

If this is in part a response to my query earlier today, I should have clarified that my lounge access is not limited to DM status as I am flying on a D1 ticket that is all DL metal expect LAX-SYD-AKL.

I go with EBP whenever allowed but am somewhat relieved my LAX layover is long enough to deal with a bus as I want some lounge time before the SYD-LAX-AKL flights (having earlier done OKC-ATL-LAX).

OK I'm probably wrong about that part then, if you got access in Y as a DM I defer to your experience. They did switch from the *A lounge to the Emirates one somewhat recently though.
