Delta's Operational move from T5 to T2/3 at LAX:
Delta has moved to: T2 and T3 with eventual connector to TBIT (note: there is currently only airside bus service to stay securely between T2 & T3, the walking connector has not been built yet.)
Where to check bags: As of January 13, 2020, non-Sky Priority customers must check their bag(s) at the terminal their flight departs from, unless their flight departs from TBIT, in which case, they must check their bag at Terminal 2. Sky priority customers can check their bag at either terminal. See this link for more information.
Date(s) of move: May 12, 2017 - May 17, 2017
Here is a helpful chart from Delta which covers all Domestic / Int'l. transfer combos (AND TOTAL TRANSFER TIMES) between T2, T3 & TBIT.
New Bus Routes will help with connections:
- Circular Airfield Bus between TBIT, T2 and T3
- Airfield Bus between T2 and T3
Bus Map
Will there be a SkyClub: Yes, there is one in each terminal. Virgin Atlantic Clubhouse will remain.
- The SkyClub in T2 opened on May 20th (Former AC Maple Leaf Lounge)

- The SkyClub in T3 opened on May 24th (Former VX Loft)

Where Will The Delta One Check In Lounge Be Located:
In T2, there is a small Delta One seating area with refreshments. An agent will escort you from the check in/lounge area through a back pathway up stairs to TSA precheck. Its a shorter walk to check-in at SkyPriority and easier if you have a carry on and don't want to drag it up a flight of stairs. 11/3/17)
Airlines joining DL in T2/3 for landside and departures:
- AeroMexico (T2)
- Virgin Atlantic (T2)
- WestJet (T3)
Landside T2 only, departures from TBIT:
- Virgin Australia
- Volaris
Landside T3 only, departures from TBIT:
- Avianca/Taca
- Copa (effective April 7)
- InterJet
Will there be secure links between T2-T3 and TBIT: Yes, the final plan is to let pax walk between all airside.

There was a long line to check in to the T5 club recently but they had lemon water waiting on a try for those waiting and could even swipe your card with a mobile device. Definitely made the checkin experience better!

An issue with this club that I hope they correct is that there did not separate check in from travel assistance.

No it's not, or at least not from T2. You can get dropped off right away, and after pickup, you can cut across on the road that goes from between T2/3 to T6/7 and avoid driving through T 3,4,5, & 6.

T3 will be longer as you miss the cutoff and have to do the full loop by TBIT for both pickup and drop off.
One reason I don't use the Delta One entrance (on the rare occasions I'm allowed) is you can't get there if you take the cutoff and so have to do the full loop which can lose much of the time you might save, plus the longer walk to Pre-Check.

The way I understand it is that AA is vacating the T6 gates (and moving to T5) so that T6 AA space renovation can begin to start moving airlines like AC over from T2/T3 (as part of the ultimate goal of getting DL into T2/T3). So those T6 gates likely won't be available for use.

I thought there was two cutoffs. One that dumps you by mid point and one by end of T4. I could be crazy though since I normally just have the Uber drop me on the arrival level regardless. Most terminals have elevators that open directly to the outside. Regardless, even if you have to go inside, you can be up and checked in before you would reach the terminal on the departure level.

Comparing T2 vs T5 the car is in the airport for the same amount of time -- the flyer gets dropped off sooner for T2 but has a longer ride out of the airport -- assuming you are not so far down on T2 you can't get over to the T2-T5 cutoff.
T3 will be longer as you miss the cutoff and have to do the full loop by TBIT for both pickup and drop off.

If you are picking up from T2 or T3, you can use the lower level center utility road in front of TBIT to exit. Don't take the full loop via T4-7.
And if you are smart, you do the T2 and T3 drop off at the lower level too
