Delta's Operational move from T5 to T2/3 at LAX:

Delta has moved to: T2 and T3 with eventual connector to TBIT (note: there is currently only airside bus service to stay securely between T2 & T3, the walking connector has not been built yet.)

Where to check bags: As of January 13, 2020, non-Sky Priority customers must check their bag(s) at the terminal their flight departs from, unless their flight departs from TBIT, in which case, they must check their bag at Terminal 2. Sky priority customers can check their bag at either terminal. See this link for more information.

Date(s) of move: May 12, 2017 - May 17, 2017

Here is a helpful chart from Delta which covers all Domestic / Int'l. transfer combos (AND TOTAL TRANSFER TIMES) between T2, T3 & TBIT.

New Bus Routes will help with connections:
- Circular Airfield Bus between TBIT, T2 and T3
- Airfield Bus between T2 and T3

Bus Map

Will there be a SkyClub: Yes, there is one in each terminal. Virgin Atlantic Clubhouse will remain.
- The SkyClub in T2 opened on May 20th (Former AC Maple Leaf Lounge)
pix in post 1058
- The SkyClub in T3 opened on May 24th (Former VX Loft)

https://www.delta.com/content/www/en...d-updates.html

Where Will The Delta One Check In Lounge Be Located:

Delta will temporarily offer dedicated check-in space in Terminal 2 (first door closest to T1) while a long-term Delta One experience is finalized.
In T2, there is a small Delta One seating area with refreshments. An agent will escort you from the check in/lounge area through a back pathway up stairs to TSA precheck. Its a shorter walk to check-in at SkyPriority and easier if you have a carry on and don't want to drag it up a flight of stairs. 11/3/17)

Airlines joining DL in T2/3 for landside and departures:
- AeroMexico (T2)
- Virgin Atlantic (T2)
- WestJet (T3)

Landside T2 only, departures from TBIT:
- Virgin Australia
- Volaris

Landside T3 only, departures from TBIT:
- Avianca/Taca
- Copa (effective April 7)
- InterJet

Will there be secure links between T2-T3 and TBIT: Yes, the final plan is to let pax walk between all airside.

I would assume at some point the MLL would be a SkyClub.

However, it looks like the LAWA meeting on 2/2 they will approve an early lease termination for Virgin Atlantic, allowing VA to terminate the lease on their club once DL takes over..

AA is taking over the T5 club, once DL moves to T2/3.

DL is taking over the AC T2 lounge.
I assume DL will also takeover the VX T3 lounge.

How large is the T2 AC lounge compared to the T5 Sky Club?

Does the AC lounge have showers?

Will it be super packed given Delta's and partner carriers' J passengers on international flights out of T2?

Will entrance to the VS Club House be expanded to accommodate some of the premium passengers on partner carries?

I haven't seen this posted anywhere yet, but in one of the LAWA documents (the executive summary document posted here http://lawa.granicus.com/MetaViewer....&meta_id=26575), it says the following:

Premises:
Prior to relocating to Terminals 2 and 3, Delta will have a Right of Entry to perform improvements in Terminals 2, 3, and TBIT. Upon relocation into Terminals 2 and 3, Delta will occupy all airline space consisting of approximately 340,000 square feet. Upon completion of approved renovations, Delta will occupy approximately 451,000 square feet. If the potential future improvements are approved, the premises will be revised to reflect asbuilt conditions through revision of the proposed Lease premises exhibits, subject to City Attorney approval as to form, and approval by the Chief Executive Office, Board, or City Council as required.
So it looks like following renovations, DL will occupy 33% more space than the current T2/T3 setup provides. But the terminals may even be larger -- this is just the space that DL will occupy. I'm parsing the full lease text to see if I can find any additional information.

But the text says "If you have time before your flight, Delta Sky Club members and Delta One passengers can head to the Terminal 5 Mezzanine to see the beautifully designed club."

Perhaps not to confuse people who are looking at the site for current travel?

fair point. I had the impression it was a microsite for future travel but if it is for current, that makes sense.

Take this with a grain of salt: Gate agent working LAX-SFO Shuttle this morning told me that the full move to T2-T3 will take ten days and be complete by Mother's Day.

I don't know if it was a special occasion, but our aircraft parked at an open stand, next to AA's remote terminal. We were then shuttled to Terminal 6. The captain advised us we arrived too early and there was no gate available.

I would think this would be very common for the next several months. There have to be some gates down for transition at any time, and LAX has none to spare.

This has happened as well on all of my recent OAK/LAX flights. Not a lot of fun when you have to climb slippery, uncovered outdoor stairs in pouring rain to get to/from the terminal. Then rinse and repeat as you climb the stairs to/from the bus to/from the plane.

I noticed today that some portable buildings have been built behind the T5 parking structure to be used by Delta Operations at LAX during the move.
