Delta's Operational move from T5 to T2/3 at LAX:

Delta has moved to: T2 and T3 with eventual connector to TBIT (note: there is currently only airside bus service to stay securely between T2 & T3, the walking connector has not been built yet.)

Where to check bags: As of January 13, 2020, non-Sky Priority customers must check their bag(s) at the terminal their flight departs from, unless their flight departs from TBIT, in which case, they must check their bag at Terminal 2. Sky priority customers can check their bag at either terminal. See this link for more information.

Date(s) of move: May 12, 2017 - May 17, 2017

Here is a helpful chart from Delta which covers all Domestic / Int'l. transfer combos (AND TOTAL TRANSFER TIMES) between T2, T3 & TBIT.

New Bus Routes will help with connections:
- Circular Airfield Bus between TBIT, T2 and T3
- Airfield Bus between T2 and T3

Bus Map

Will there be a SkyClub: Yes, there is one in each terminal. Virgin Atlantic Clubhouse will remain.
- The SkyClub in T2 opened on May 20th (Former AC Maple Leaf Lounge)
pix in post 1058
- The SkyClub in T3 opened on May 24th (Former VX Loft)

https://www.delta.com/content/www/en...d-updates.html

Where Will The Delta One Check In Lounge Be Located:

Delta will temporarily offer dedicated check-in space in Terminal 2 (first door closest to T1) while a long-term Delta One experience is finalized.
In T2, there is a small Delta One seating area with refreshments. An agent will escort you from the check in/lounge area through a back pathway up stairs to TSA precheck. Its a shorter walk to check-in at SkyPriority and easier if you have a carry on and don't want to drag it up a flight of stairs. 11/3/17)

Airlines joining DL in T2/3 for landside and departures:
- AeroMexico (T2)
- Virgin Atlantic (T2)
- WestJet (T3)

Landside T2 only, departures from TBIT:
- Virgin Australia
- Volaris

Landside T3 only, departures from TBIT:
- Avianca/Taca
- Copa (effective April 7)
- InterJet

Will there be secure links between T2-T3 and TBIT: Yes, the final plan is to let pax walk between all airside.

Its going to go I phases over the next 7 years or so. I think the lease says that they can't have more than 4 inoperable gates at any one time..

With TBIT, as of March the 21st, VA Platinum get to use the EK Lounge while Business and VA Gold PAX get to use the EY lounge.

Based on current scheduling, it appears both lounges are opening in the evenings specifically for the VA flights.

Gosh, you took the wind out of my sail.

http://onemileatatime.boardingarea.c...s-lax-airport/

I was looking at this blog and thought I would try to get into the EK lounge on my return (as well as the outbound which is on VA biz LAX-SYD-AKL) which is D1 but all DL metal (SYD-LAX-ATL-OKC). I may be tempted to see if DM status gets one into the EK lounge unless the EY lounge is no match to EK.

Edited to say this same blog shows EY is not up to EK standards: http://onemileatatime.boardingarea.c...ad-lounge-lax/

Delta does not have preferential access to gates in TBIT so it will be whatever gate is assigned/available.

Later on after both wings of MSC are completed, Delta may get preferential access to 3 (or 4?) gates in TBIT North next to T3.

~~~
As to why VA is moving check-in to T2, I think it is because Delta will be using T2 for its long haul international flights. Since DL and VA have JV to Australia, it makes sense from Delta's perspective to keep them all in T2. Also, I believe T3 lobby/head house is slated to be one of the first phase of construction once Delta takes over the place so it makes sense again to move VA now rather than later.
I didn't think VA/DL had a JV. VS/DL do, but AFAIK not VA/DL
They do. It was approved in June 2011.
why? it looks great. Capacity looks to be the only issue. 76 seats for business and gold?
edit: looks like no alacarte dining. hope the bar is full service
The main circular portion of T3 (unfortunately) stays, only the wings and connector get demo'd and rebuilt. That said, I think it will be a deep remodel and add-on to the existing structures. It's going to be messy for a while.
I will give them credit... They certainly did a nice job with T2, it's probably the nicest terminal at LAX now besides TBIT. If they can replicate that with T3 DL will be in good shape.
It really is the most boring architecture that $1.9B could buy.
