Delta's Operational move from T5 to T2/3 at LAX:

Delta has moved to: T2 and T3 with eventual connector to TBIT (note: there is currently only airside bus service to stay securely between T2 & T3, the walking connector has not been built yet.)

Where to check bags: As of January 13, 2020, non-Sky Priority customers must check their bag(s) at the terminal their flight departs from, unless their flight departs from TBIT, in which case, they must check their bag at Terminal 2. Sky priority customers can check their bag at either terminal. See this link for more information.

Date(s) of move: May 12, 2017 - May 17, 2017

Here is a helpful chart from Delta which covers all Domestic / Int'l. transfer combos (AND TOTAL TRANSFER TIMES) between T2, T3 & TBIT.

New Bus Routes will help with connections:
- Circular Airfield Bus between TBIT, T2 and T3
- Airfield Bus between T2 and T3

Bus Map

Will there be a SkyClub: Yes, there is one in each terminal. Virgin Atlantic Clubhouse will remain.
- The SkyClub in T2 opened on May 20th (Former AC Maple Leaf Lounge)
pix in post 1058
- The SkyClub in T3 opened on May 24th (Former VX Loft)

https://www.delta.com/content/www/en...d-updates.html

Where Will The Delta One Check In Lounge Be Located:

Delta will temporarily offer dedicated check-in space in Terminal 2 (first door closest to T1) while a long-term Delta One experience is finalized.
In T2, there is a small Delta One seating area with refreshments. An agent will escort you from the check in/lounge area through a back pathway up stairs to TSA precheck. Its a shorter walk to check-in at SkyPriority and easier if you have a carry on and don't want to drag it up a flight of stairs. 11/3/17)

Airlines joining DL in T2/3 for landside and departures:
- AeroMexico (T2)
- Virgin Atlantic (T2)
- WestJet (T3)

Landside T2 only, departures from TBIT:
- Virgin Australia
- Volaris

Landside T3 only, departures from TBIT:
- Avianca/Taca
- Copa (effective April 7)
- InterJet

Will there be secure links between T2-T3 and TBIT: Yes, the final plan is to let pax walk between all airside.

KAL Lounge is open all day as it is the SkyTeam Alliance lounge in the Bradley terminal. When I was there one of the staff at the check-in desk was actually wearing a China Airlines uniform. However, they do not accept Priority Pass before noon.

If every member of your party has their own Platinum Card, then I'd stick with the SkyClubs and avoid the hassle of having to take the bus over and back to the Bradley terminal for the KAL Lounge. On the other hand, if you have guests, then the KAL Lounge might be worth it since Amex Platinum Priority Pass now allows two free guests per member, while SkyClubs don't allow any free guests.

IMHO, the Korean Air lounge is only worth it if your flight departs from Terminal B/TBIT or if you need a shower and they haven't fixed the plumbing in T2 yet. The catering is grim, grim, grim - we're squarely in bulk snacks and Woodbridge wine territory here. The space itself is fine but not nothing to write home about.

The T3 Sky Club is small and sad. The deli case of snacks there looks pretty tasty, though, and if you are planning on a short layover it's a fine choice.

For longer layovers right now you want to pop over to T2 though - it has by far the better club for now. More traditional Sky Club snack spread, and a substantial array of quality free pour booze of various descriptions. It's also large and airy - I'd say it's slightly bigger and roughly similar layout to the S satellite club in Seattle, as an analogy. Delta will need more capacity at peak times but it's definitely the better starting point they inherited.

Which club (T2 or T3) has better aircraft views (tarmac and runway)?

T3 lounge (old VX lounge) has good view of tarmac and North runways. It was one of my favorite spot at LAX to just plane watch.

I haven't been to the T2 lounge since DL took over but I recall it only has view of the tarmac. No direct view of the runways.

It may be open all day, but has restricted hours for PP use. Also tge AS boardroom has been turming away PP due to crowding issues.

EDIT: I found that the T2/T3 to T5 airfiled bus was temporary for the move and is no longer operating.
If I were doing this and had plenty of time between connections I would go airside, as I would want to get a feel for what the shuttle process is like - and I like walking through airports.

If I had a tight connection (I'm also PreCHECK) I would go landside and walk it.

I've been in and out of T3 several times since the move, and all i can say is that it has to be the worst DELTA terminal in the US. What a dump. I've seen third world countries with much nicer terminals.

The lounge in T2--smaller than the lounge in T5, but MUCH MUCH better views of the airfields--love it!

I've been in both, T2 lounge is 10 fold better than T3 lounge. T3 is very cramped and seatings are uncomfortable

I'm flying into T2 this evening on JFK-LAX then have a connecting domestic flight showing T3 departure.

Is there better signage now to directing pax to the bus from T2 to T3?

Upon arrival in T3 where exactly is the Sky Club? DL App says "mezzanine level" which isn't very helpful...

I definitely want to check out the T3 sky club but will only have about 60 minutes connection time so want to be as efficient as possible.

Thanks

The only sign I saw for the bus was right before you exit the secure area of T2. The bus stop in T2 is located at Gate 22A. It's kind of hidden because you have to walk through the Gate area of Gate 22 and then turn at a corner and there is a door manned by a DL agent asking you what Terminal you are going to. You then will take an elevator down to the ramp and board the bus to T3.

At T3 you will exit the bus and take an escalator up into T3. To get to the SkyClub, take a right once you enter T3 and you will see a elevator to the left of the Burger King. Take it upstairs and you will see the SkyClub entrance straight ahead.

Wish I read this earlier! LAX traffic is so bad and I got to T2 LAX-JFK with 35 mins to departure. No D1 line and only regular line... I had to beg people to let me bypass line a few times. They also have the rule that EVERYTHING must go in oversized bin for security. Got to gate with 12 mins spare and they were going to give my seat to someone else Please leave extra time if you are flying T2 ~

Delta.com Sky Club page says the hours for the T2 Sky Club are "Daily : 4:30AM - 1AM". I was in there this past Friday and they closed at 11pm. Website error or some anomaly that they closed at 11 on Friday?

Cranky Flier has a nice post on the impact of the move on on time performance. Bottom line: it helped everybody, but helped Delta the most. Delta (including Connection) improved from 64% to 82% on time comparing April 13-30 to June 1-18. Compass operating as Delta Connection improved from 55% to 78%. There are caveats, though.

At least operationally, this does look like it's working out to be a win-win-win-win-win (on the whole, statistically). ^

Thanks for the note -- I've a 3:20 connection from DCA-LAX (in D1) to LAX-BNE on VA in October. Not that 3:20 should have been a problem, but with some of the delays at T5....

Reporting back on my experience with the terminal move and having an AS/DL connection (T6 to T3) at LAX. My AS flight fortunately arrived pretty close to on time. I asked a flight attendant on the flight and they had no knowledge about the TBIT/T2/T3 delta connector and said to ask someone from Delta. Decided I would trust the Flyertalk reports and attempt to find the shuttle rather than try to re-clear security on a busy holiday weekend.

Hustled quite quickly through the T6/T5/T4/TBIT connectors as I wasn’t sure how long this would all take. Fortunately I’ve been in TBIT once before and had a pretty good idea of the layout of the terminal. Went to the north end and jiburi’s write-up of his experience helped me a lot. Deltas map on their website is helpful in showing the shuttle is at the north end, but other than that not so much. There is not a single sign in TBIT in regards to the shuttle, and I didn’t see any delta employees around. I kept going further knowing it has to be somewhere on this north end. I happened to look left and saw a walkway/path that led to a large open area down below and saw a couple people, and decided I would go down and ask if they knew where the Delta shuttle goes. Fortunately, I was in the right spot and they were handling the unloading & loading of these shuttles. Waited 5 or 10 minutes and got on, and was asked which terminal I was going to. They went directly from TBIT to T3, without a stop at T2 and it was very fast. When unloading at T3 there were plenty of signs regarding the shuttle. Clearly, they aren’t expecting many people to use the shuttle from TBIT to T2/T3 given the lack of signs at TBIT, but it would be helpful if they could put at least one sign out.

Arrived to T3 with I’d say about a half hour to spare. The reports about the quality of T3...I don't think I have anything to add. I'm glad I didn't have to spend a long amount of time there. Thank you for everyone's contributions to the thread.
