Me, I'll probably pick the RUs. It would be nice to have the upgrade priority for a few flights, and now there's the delicious thought that I would be stealing an upgrade from a DM. How cool is that?

Do you want the upgrade or the ability to steal it from a DM?

This would be terrible for GM. It is one of the best benefits available. Would it be like FO, at T-24? Would FO no longer get free at check-in? I don't know if DL would deval GM that much. Take away Sky Priority, too?

Where's bubbashow? Time for someone to say WECBEC and rant against freeloaders while insinuating that no GM pays DL enough to deserve any published benefits.

Huge negative for high-value platinum members that travel internationally, and for Delta regarding their fares. My company will pay m-fares for upgrades but will not pay for business class. I regularly and successfully upgraded TATL flights with my SWUs for the past few years and this option goes away for me now.
Result -
I lose my one big positive from the program and need to evaluate options. (Domestic upgrades almost never happen as a PM flying business routes from ATL - worthless benefit).
Delta loses that M-fare revenue, frequently 3x the lowest econ fare, which my company paid and allowed me to use my SWUs.

Well, sort of. Standard Y on B6 is slightly less pitch than EC on DL, and comparing against TCONs does not include extra recline or free booze. EMS on B6 is equivalent to DL F in terms of pitch (but not lateral space) and includes early boarding and fast track security, but at a cost (or points for elites).

I just think that diamonds and plats are going to start complaining when there are no EC seats available. The gate could always be assured of having a few from pax sitting in them that were upgraded...unless there are up ops, we could now have a situation where DM's on transcons will be buying last minute expensive tickets and be sitting in middle seats...
