The Kirin Lager that you allegedly cannot get outside Japan (according to the guy sitting across from me in the Asuka Lounge) from the beer machine is beginning to make up for the general mediocrity of this lounge. The only real "negative" aspect of the lounge is that it is on the opposite side of the concourse from an active runway, so all that is visible from the lounge are two gates. I had to go out to the concourse for awhile just to get some shots (which aren't that great, because it's pouring rain at present).

Southern California is on fire again. Last time this crap happened I had to evacuate to my girlfriend's place. Now we live together even further south so it's just a stellar time. Thankfully there are no fires in eastern San Diego County right now so we appear to be ok, but the conditions are nearly identical to what they were when this happened last year.

The air is so dry that the carpet feels crunchy under my feet and books/papers are brittle. I'm tempted to make some hotel reservations up in Anaheim or Temecula for tomorrow night just in case the worst comes true and we have to evacuate again.

In all honesty, I'll the hurricanes of my youth in Houston over wildfire any day. :td:

Ugh! I had forgotten the pain of a NW Y cabin on a long flight. 4hrs MSP-SFO on a 752 that's seen many a better day. It's been a long time since I didn't get bumped up on a NW flight. Could they make those seatback pockets any smaller? I couldn't even fit a book in there!

Yeah. I've noticed it too. My eyes are super dry to the point that they're tearing.

If you'd like my apt. in NY, I'll swap with you. It gets nice and soupy in the summer. :o

CM, i just heard they are making a movie, of the adult persuasion, where the star is Palin. The few bits they showed on TV are just wrong.

For the first time ever, both outbound and inbound EWR-HKG mileage upgrades for my mom were cleared on date of initial booking, with more than a month to go. Even though this is not for top business season, and they're not the popular weekend flights, this is still pretty shocking to me.

---

I did go to the Nickelback mini-concert/commercial shoot at the Forum last Sunday. It was quite an experience, but just way too time consuming. I was there for 6.5 hours total.

Off to LGA for my flight this morning. I have a 39 min connection in IAH. Lets see if I make it from E-1 to C-14 in time.

it is a banner week for me in regards to being an aviation geek. Not only did I get to experience the upper deck on the 744, which was amazingly quiet and relaxed, but the guys in the front office presented me with the chart they used for the TATL crossing. Cool Stuff!

To add icing on the cake, I need to do a last minute client delivery today and will be taking a Swiss Avro 100 to/from LCY.

^^

I saw that :rolleyes:MNI thread. I was at work so I couldn't click any links, but apparently it's a pretty bad spoof of her.

Good Morning, Box. Up early to make the funeral on time. :( Then the rest of the day with the fiancee - :D

ETA: Might be NSFW, but there's no exposed bad parts...she's not a great lookalike, but it gets the message across.

Decent co.com specials this week from EWR (BHM, BOG, CMH, SDF, YUL, YOW, PIT, RIC) and i am lucky enough to have in-laws coming to visit so I can't go anywhere. :td:

On the plus side, my sister finally manged to pop out the pending new nephew, so that's finally taken care of.

The decent co.com specials are a result of me having other travel plans this weekend. Every time I am available for one of the specials, the selections are lame. When I am not available, they are good. I've been looking for a trip to YUL for a while now and soon it will be too cold up there.

Congrats on the new nephew! ^

Well, things are starting to pick up again.
Off to Chicago today for 2 days of being locked up in a hotel for a never ending meeting, then home and then Rochester then Columbus then home. It is going to be a Kenjet festival .

The good news is that I get to fly on both an E-175 and an E-170 or 190 (I am not sure) courtesy of US. I tell you what I think after the flights (first time on US in about 1 year).

+1 ^

I've never been to a funeral service where there was as much laughter and applause as at this one. There were various pastors that had dealt with my mentor and his wife thru the years that were trading inside jokes in their speeches (:cool::D). Having been raised a guilt-ridden Catholic, this was all very new to me.
