Unlucky: sitting in a rental car to find that there's a scent tree hanging from the rearview, and it's called "ERJ Perro Flatus".

I haven't a clue. :D I know it's sad that I don't know the rules inside and out.

If you're a Plat. on a B fare I give your upgrade chances at over 80% on a weekend, even on a trans-con. And, if not, I'm confident at least one person will get a battlefield. Tell the GA that you're stuck in a middle seat and if they up someone, can you please have their seat.

I've had luck with this. Even in EWR.

I'm probably flying out this Thursday (almost all flights zeroed out) and coming back on Tuesday morning. The biggest ophthalmology conference in the world is this weekend in SFO so the flights are all full of MD's who, while most likely aren't elite, paid for F.

Wouldn't this also prevent people from charging GPS units rented by Hertz?

Hertz uses Always Lost which is a fixed unit in the cars (unlike Avis which hands over a TomTom). I believe the Always Lost is hardwired.

ETA: Gadfly - route via CLE or IAH?

Wouldn't have to worry about it if you could commit some shenanigans on my behalf and toss an F passenger to make room for me :D :p

I took a look at that....US through CLT or UA through DEN are both cheaper than CO through IAH so my company will probably want to stick me on one of those. At least the return trip will be after the *A transition so I may get EQM and/or EUA/E+.

Stay tuned for further details. :-:

One of my favorite exercises showing power of compounding is to take the evangelical year of Garden of Eden (around 4000BC, I think), and compound two people at a 1% growth rate until now, and see how many people you end up with. The number has many more zeros than the number of square millimeters on the planet.

Not to get too wonkish, but please point out the assumptions to your students if they use the Black Scholes model to value options! The risk neutral pricing paradigm is only valid if the option can be continuously hedged; if that isn't the case, the pricing argument reverts to Samuleson's (identical, except for a risky discount discount rate), model. There is a lot of implicit, unintentional fraud that happens when B-S is indiscriminately applied to non-financial-market issues (like employment options, pension issues, and the like).

End of lecture. Sorry.

If doing coach, take UA. They have the best seat-padding. I only do US in F, but Y looks a bit  (though still more comfy than CO's brick seats).

Shows how often I rent a GPS (never). I thought Always Lost was a Garmin unit, so I figured it used a standard power connector.

Refill? Did you burn sore more miles?

I burned 60K last week on LAX-ICN-SYD. Need to get the balance back to 60K to book the return. Should have that covered in two weeks. :D

It is Garmin but it's hard wired as the units are installed in the car and not hand held. I had a few complementary upgrades that had them in the car.

RE: compound two people at a 1% growth rate until now [6000 years], and see how many people you end up with.

I located my HP-12 (yeah, I'm that old ;)), and got the answer: 16 followed by 25 zeros. Now, off to do some real work.
