Yahtzee to this stay 2 get 1 Asia/Pacific promo for SPG. I guess I know which direction I'll be taking the honeymoon. :-:

Anyone heard any conspiracy theories about Hertz disabling the power ports in cars to prevent people from using their own GPS'? I had two cars last week from two different stations that had non-functioning power ports / cigarette lighters which prevented me from being able to charge my personal GPS.

When I plugged my unit into my personal car to try and determine which part had the FAIL it worked like a charm. </tinfoil hat>

Just found out that I may have to go to SFO this weekend. Nothing left but completely full planes and B fares. Does anyone know if CO's "middle-seat guarantee" applies to both B and Y fares or only full Y?

Speaking of economics, there's still time to register for my Managerial Economics class. Just put together the assignments for the semester:

* Supply and demand in corporate news
* Cost of capital and uncompensated risk (business, equity, debt, and the mortgage crisis)
* Present value (tie in to number two)
* Price discrimination practical applications
* New product diffusion process - launch, tipping points, saturation or organic decay
* Real options given limited resources
* Game theory or multi-national currency risk (students' choice)

Looks good! ^

Nothing on Theory of Individual Behavior or Monopolies and Monopsonies though? Or are those built-in to some of the exercises?

As does mine. The blog posts trigger an auto-twit.

While I could totally see Hertz doing that, it is quite  of them to deny people the ability to charge their phones as well.

"No Middle Seat" Guarantee: To ensure a comfortable flight we'll guarantee that you receive a window or aisle seat in Economy Class if you are not upgraded to the front cabin when you purchase a full fare on Continental Airlines and Continental Micronesia operated flights. We're so committed to this guarantee; we'll automatically reward our OnePass members with 2,500 OnePass miles if they do sit in a middle seat.

OnePass members traveling on non-discounted domestic fare basis codes and ticketed in F, D, Y classes of service and non-discounted international fare basis codes starting with J, D, Z, C, F, Y and ticketed in J, D, Z, C, F, Y classes of service qualify for the "No Middle Seat" Guarantee. The sole and exclusive remedy for when Continental is unable to provide a window or aisle Economy seat is receiving 2,500 bonus miles. A maximum of 2,500 bonus miles may be earned per one-way flight itinerary. Continental may terminate this offer at any time without notice.

Actually, according to Alex:

If you're a Plat. on a B fare I give your upgrade chances at over 80% on a weekend, even on a trans-con. And, if not, I'm confident at least one person will get a battlefield. Tell the GA that you're stuck in a middle seat and if they up someone, can you please have their seat.

I've had luck with this. Even in EWR.

Wouldn't this also prevent people from charging GPS units rented by Hertz? I doubt they're manually re-enabling power ports for people renting a GPS.
