The 12:50 am JFK-ICN flight will have a very limited first meal, with a larger meal later in the flight. I don't much care for the ultra-late-night departures to Asia, but you have to take what you can get w/r/t reward availability.

I guess a last minute swap would not bother me that much since it's only a 3 hour flights, but it's somthing to keep in mind

Must be my pre-coffee paranoia. I'm still fairly certain that I'll be sitting on a pile of Luftwaffe Miles and SEN status in the near future. Hoping that I don't end up with buckets of VS miles, as their program sucks.

Is it even worth it for me to go out of my way this month to requalify for BD Gold, I wonder? I had planned to fly one more Q-up and burn some miles for reward travel at the end of November.

Is it their seats that get bad reviews, or the service? I just read a review in Business Traveler Magazine that said the seats were good (for angled-flat). As they look identical to SU's, I would expect the hard-product to be one of the better angled-flats out there. I prefer the SU seat to the new AF seat, and to every other angled-flat I have tried (KE, TG, AZ), with the exception of EK.

I have heard from people who have flown it that they thougth both soft and hard products were mediocre. That could have been with the older seats, though, now that I think about it. From what I recall, the a.net trip reports had bigger issues with the soft product than the seats.

If it's not too much of a hassle, I would go for it. You could end up with some LH SWUs, and I doubt Diamond Club will be gutted or destroyed within the very near future. Do your Q-UP and get a nice :-: (or QR or Transaero) redemption to somewhere in C or F.

I was going to do something like DCA-ORD-IST(o)-LHR and LHR-ZRH-ORD-DCA. I wonder if IST-LHR would be considered a backtrack.

I was listening to the Jekyll & Hyde Broadway cast recording soundtrack yesterday, and it is an apropos comparison to my situation right now. I am failing to turn into my version of good instead of evil. Coffee not taking. As the line in the musical goes, "no noticeable behavioral differences".

I'm getting used to the Bolt posting interface.

48 hours until excitement returns to the airwaves...hockey starts on Saturday.

How are the seats, were they comfortable to sleep in?

I thought they could use a touch more padding but were otherwise OK. I managed to sleep on my ICN-ORD flight so it wasn't awful like AZ's old 767 J seats.

That will not require a redeposit and redemption at the new rates?

New mileage rates but you'll be platinum so no fees.

I think I may give KE a try then. This may be one of my last chances to catch a 747 upper deck also :-:

Does anyone know if KE plans to install the sleeper business seats on all of their aircraft?

Unless they close it down on you and you're stuck downstairs. No, I'm not bitter at all.

Yes -- but I think he needed to hear a more full description. The unwashed masses walk and crawl the halls there -- literally. I saw many unshod, half-dressed three year old kids rolling around on the floors, some with no parents in sight. The parking structure looked like it had been condemned years earlier. I didn't want to touch anything because what I did touch felt sticky. The word gr:rolleyes:ss does not even begin to describe it. Then again, what kind of customer do you think they get when they advertise rooms at $23/night?

I enjoyed flying into RNO. I was flying SAN - RNO on WN and had to change planes in OAK. The OAK - RNO leg was only about as far as IAH - AUS so we didn't get much over 20,000 feet. With mountains going upwards of 10,000 feet, I had a great view of the lake and surrounding area before we turned for short final.

But yeah, I flew in there to drive up to Truckee, heh. No one really stays in RNO.

I would very much like to play that golf course that routes right along the edge of Lake Tahoe...Edgewood, is it? It's where the Michael Douglas Celebrity Golf Classic is staged every year.
