Schmuck of the day: the nurse at the surgery center who decided that pushing an empty wheelchair into the elevator before I have a chance to exit said elevator was a good idea. Whatever happened to the common courtesy act of letting the elevator empty out on the ground floor before letting other people enter it??

Anglo Large Clawed Otter Oct 1, 2009 7:57 am

Hmmm, teh Aero Canadia IAH-FRA fare is an N fare, which earns no miles on BD. Definitely not risking a purchase of that one until I know how CO would credit.

I had one yesterday when I extended common courtesy and was rebuffed. I was leaving the post office and held the door for a woman who was exiting behind me and carrying a child. She purposely walked around me so she could open the other door herself, with no help from me. I figured her Hajib had a lot to do with it.

Let's play "What Would the Box Do?"

I made a reward reservation from JFK-HKG in business of course.

Right now, I am booked on this itinerary
Code:

04/28/10        NW799        JFK-NRT        1:50PM-5:00PM +1 B777
04/29/10        NW295        NRT-HKG        6:45PM-11:PM    A330

I am thinking of changing to this itinerary because I will be able to continue into China and save on a hotel that I would have needed for one night.
Code:

04/28/10        KE86        JFK-ICN        12:50AM-4:35AM +1 B747
04/29/10        KE603        ICN-HKG        8:30AM-10:55AM    B777

I chose the NW/DL departure because of the possibility of flat seats on the long haul, newer aircraft and better food options. I am not concerned at all with entertainment because I bring my own and almost never watch the AVOD onboard.

I have no experience with KE and would welcome everyone’s opinions.

Would you guys wait until we enter :-: and see what the options are with UA/US/AC ect?

Oh and good moning all!

That 1am departure sucks but if the timing is better I'd probably go for it. I also was wholly unimpressed with KE's business class offering but since you'll be sleeping through it that probably matters less.

I flew in to RNO but on my way to Tahoe. Now that was a great destination.

Flying in without leaving the airport doesn't count.

Me as well, plus turning the bathroom into a steam room does wonders for the travel wrinkles.

I have done this as well.

I hear their J is alright (the seat looks identical to Aeroflot's, which I like). Dunno how they are in Y.

I have heard that it is awful.

There are some trip reports on a.nut, though, which give mixed reviews.

KE's strong suit is running a reliable, on-time operation with very good service and seats in C. The downsides are the ICN C lounge and the C catering. They also swap equipment all the time, which can result in your intra-Asia 777 new C seat being swapped for a 777 or 330 with the old seats.

The 12:50 am JFK-ICN flight will have a very limited first meal, with a larger meal later in the flight. I don't much care for the ultra-late-night departures to Asia, but you have to take what you can get w/r/t reward availability.

Yes 1am is quite  but I would be at work all day and head over to the airport at about 9pm, so I will be sleeping most of the flight. How are the seats, were they comfortable to sleep in?

That will not require a redeposit and redemption at the new rates?

Anglo Large Clawed Otter Oct 1, 2009 8:28 am

Nice of CO to open up Standard F availability on DFW-IAH for the Sunday after Thanksgiving. Saves me spending $$$ on my final leg back from AMS. ^

My understanding of what CO Insider wrote was that it did not require complete redeposit if the origin and destination remained the same. I could have that a little off, though. I'll see if I can find the post.

Is it their seats that get bad reviews, or the service? I just read a review in Business Traveler Magazine that said the seats were good (for angled-flat). As they look identical to SU's, I would expect the hard-product to be one of the better angled-flats out there. I prefer the SU seat to the new AF seat, and to every other angled-flat I have tried (KE, TG, AZ), with the exception of EK.

Ok, I think I had it backwards. If you change carriers, it will require redeposit and reissue at the higher mileage levels. See this post. Cova asked the question originally.
