Tangentially related to my trip to the Tanger Outlet today. I now have 68 cents left on the gift Visa from the resort/timeshare company this morning:

* $19 of grocery shopping
* Tanger - gift for myself from "Le Gourmet"
* Tanger - two CDs from "Music for a Song"
* Tanger - Pepperidge Farm store - three large boxes of Tim Tam's (360g each, good through Oct 2010), Goldfish, and other items
* Tanger - New pair of Rockport dress shoes after using pink card

The dress shoes were iffy - I was conflicted between Coach, Johnston & Murphy, and Rockport.

We love the ecco outlet there. Plus1 always likes to pick up a spare pair of golf shoes or three and I like to find BL JR shoes there.

Counting like a government worker are we? I have to ask, do you wear a tweed jacket?

Well sbm12 is flying into AUS, so TX-71 to I-10 East is the fastest route.

I would think if they are heading downtown the 71/10 combo would work.. but then again I didn't google the exact DO location.. :)

Aye, this is my plan. I don't know the details either but it will all come together somehow.

I avoid 290 into and out of AUS at all costs unless I am headed to Westlake or the Parmer Lane area.

Capt Sullenberger and FO Skiles are returning to flying with US tomorrow. Their first route is LGA-CLT - US1427.

My bad. Years of living in NW Houston (near 2920) accustomed me to always taking 290 to reach Austin.

With the toll road, none of it is a pain now. I like 290 less because there are more towns and stuff that require you to slow down. Past La Grange, it's smooth sailing onto I-10. But I will use 290 if I have things to do on the north side of Houston. Anything south of I-10 (such as visiting my parents) will see me use SH-71. I'm just hoping the weather doesn't divert sbm12's flight and/or cause significant delays. I suppose it isn't the end of the world, as I can attempt to acquire a gate pass and use my Priority Pass to hang out in the AUS PC.

Most of our friends use 290 to get to Austin. I don't understand how they mentally deal with the 5pm traffic on a Friday.

Yeah, a buddy of mine is between Spring Cypress and Louetta just east of 249 and I use 290 to get down there. But SH-71 is much faster going to downtown/Rice/Uptown/etc as well as anything south of I-10.

I have to make the trade-off of who I'm visiting IAH these days. :D A long time ago in a galaxy far, far away, I lived off Parmer. Me and the now hubby did the 290 commute (he lived off 290) for a while. That ended when he moved to AUS last year.

I have to say, 71/10 works better for most of my friends still in the IAH area.

Yeah, the small towns are a huge :td:

There is usually less traffic on 71, and you can put it on cruise control all the way to Ellinger (where I like to stop anyway ;)).

We use the tollroad in Austin occasionally to get to 183A and Leander, but those roads are already starting to get clogged up near Round Rock.
