Really? That is surprising to me; I wonder if it's a time of day thing? I live in Cedar Park just off 183A and regularly utilize the toll roads to get down to 290 or 71/the airport and it has always been smooth sailing. There will be some backup on, for example, the on ramp to I-35 North through Round Rock but the toll road itself keeps moving nicely. I got the TxTag when we moved here and not having to stop and pay the toll is win. ^

We have TxTag as well and seen it really back up at 290/130 and near Pflugerville.

It's definitely quicker than doing 71 to 183 all the way up to Leander.

Next time we're in town I'll send you a message, we are right down the way from Cedar Park.

Yeah 71 and I-10 is a lot easier drive, with fewer small towns that slow you down — unless you're coming from the north/northwest side of Houston headed to the north side of Austin. Then 290 is faster, even with the traffic lights and section that's not divided.

Non-Texan back in the Box. Just thought I'd let y'all know. :D

There's a thread in US-land about it and the relative value of the PR stunt. I wanted to crack a joke in that thread and stopped myself. Seats are still available for the flight. Be dialin', be dialin.

A random question for the Texas crowd of The Box...

If you were to spend a weekend in any city/town/area in Texas (outside of DAL, HOU and AUS) where would you go and why?

Yeah, I had a joke to make about it as well, but I decided to restrain myself. :)

When I checked this afternoon, the flight was zeroed out.

Huh, I never thought of it as a PR stunt, though it could be, but more like letting the pilots take care of unfinished business. It's not often that pilots in those circumstances get to do that. :-:

The Texas Hill Country is absolutely beautiful this time of year. You could make a base in Kerrville (or Fredericksburg) and go as far south as Uvalde on day trips. Lots of state parks and natural areas to check out. The weather is finally cooling off as well.

If you want a city, the only other valid option is SAT.

Either the Texas Hill Country, the Davis Mountains/Alpine/Big Bend area, or the Guadalupe Mountains.

I normally drive 183A when I leave from AUS, a long ways...never had a problem with traffic on it. I don't have TXTag buy pay tolls by mail.

SAT for a city; lots to do - I like the riverwalk; good food there; good hotels - free beer at Sea World. I want to go to Marfa.

That show is addicting to watch, but for some reason I always miss the new episodes and only see reruns. :(

TxTag tolls are actually cheaper than Pay By Mail. It isn't an exorbitant sum but still.
