Kudos for going on the 4 runs but 3 should get you more than enough points to requalify, IIRC.

2 Will do it if routed along the TPA-IAD-AUS/SAT/DFW/IAH-DEN-ONT Zig-Zag route.

Aye. Some of their redemption values are lousy. However, they are great for Australia and Far East Asia (120K return in C), S. America (60K return in C, 100K in F), and the Extra Stopover en route to Europe/S. Africa is a neat trick, as well.

Can you connect in South America when traveling from the US to Europe?

I may have to do this, just for the lines. ;) I kind of wanted to do SFO-ONT as well.

Well, it sounds like I may soon be added to the list of unemployed members of The Box. I was notified today that due to significant cutbacks at my primary client, my position will likely be going away at the end of November (my birthday to be exact ). The writing has been on the wall for a few months now, so I can't say I'm completely surprised. I'm going to see if my consulting company has any other opportunities that I can pursue, but this situation is also giving me a good kick in the butt to ramp up a job search in other parts of the country as well. Life goes on...

Anyone need an IT PM with experience in IT compliance and web-technologies?

Good luck on your search. I do see such postings everyonce and a while and I get them a couple of days before the general public. I'll let you know if I get anymore.

I would have done it for a recognition on your site and $1,000. <shrug> That photographer made out like a bandit and he/she knows it.

I attend conferences for free by taking photos such as I did yesterday. Also networking sessions.

I'm sending the job fairy up to you and Olton Hall. For what it's worth, consider Austin. Austin is a big IT town, and there is a rather well known giant IT firm HQ just down the road in Round Rock, and I'm sure you could find something in the area. Moreover, there are still many teaching gigs open across the state for your wife. Just something to consider.

Thanks. Tomorrow is susposed to be decision day if I make it to the face-to-face round for that Vancouver position. Of course I won't be home tomorrow.

I've not tried it yet, but it's definitely worth a shot. All they can say is "is not possible." Would also be a good one to use with the shorter sector in F trick (recalling that JFK-GRU is shorter than GRU-Europe, once JJ joins). :-:

If it's okay, it would only work with a connection, rather than a stopover. A stopover would kick up the price (pricing it as two separate one-ways Zone 3-Zone 4, and Zone 4-Zones 1/2).

Doing zig-zag on the way there and ONT-SFO-LAX-ORD-TPA on the way back yields almost as many miles. :-:

And all you need in one schedule change to really get creative.

TPA-ORD-HNL-SFO-ONT comes to mind :D

UA's not all that bad!

I would gladly do it, but how do I get them to put me on ORD-HNL-SFO-ONT? Just tell them there's been a schedule change and I'd like to go that route?

You can do AUS/DFW/IAH-SFO-ONT as well and I think that will land you more miles.

I'm pretty sure you killed the HNL routing for the rest of us.

I don't think those work going Westbound, as DFW/IAH-SFO leave in the morning, and there is only one flight per day.

Book waaaay out and wait for a schedule change. Chances are UA will shoot you a call, or rather UA's Indian support folks will shoot you a call. When they do say the changed time won't work but you'd still like to make the trip. Mention something like "my meeting requires that I leave no later/no earlier than etc. to change the timing of the flight -- say from an afternoon departure to a morning -- and then feed them the flight numbers you want.

So for example:
Hello? Ah, yes I see there's been a schedule change; what are the new times? Hmmm, I don't think those will work for me -- but if you could find something that left before 6:30 via ORD we might be in business? What's that? Flight x leaves then? Great! Let's go with that one and please connect me to flight yy (the one to HNL  ) with another connection SFO on flight zz. Once I get to SFO I can make my original connection to ONT. <agent: thanks for choosing United, it's a pleasure to serve you> Oh no, the pleasure is mine!

Ahhh crap, they dropped the late flight from DFW-SFO with the winter sked.

This summer you could do a 1pm departure from TPA and do TPA-IAD-DFW-SFO-ONT and be in ONT by 11pm.

That was for SYD and it was perfectly legal at the time! :p

My goal is a connection through FRA :D

Plus there's one of these free for the riding at HNL:
