Is the rule for having visited to step off the plane or to leave the airport?

Alaska (though I have sat in the plane at ANC during refueling)

While not exactly hiking in the National Wildlife Refuge, I'd count it.

icurhere2, Re: Kentucky. Bet you were there earlier than you thought and might not remember it. Ever been to CVG?

Not until late 2002, after Alaska in June 2002! I flew through the hublet often as a corporate trainer (and CO flyer) before that time.

I think about $2,500 for 1K on CO :-:

I was under $3,000 total, work and personal.

I require (personally) an extra-airport excursion.

I only count leaving the airport.

Under that rule, I too, am missing Alaska. Concourses, yes. National Wildlife Refuge, or even Holiday Inn, no.

Do it by car; flying to those locales would probably double your annual spend. And do NOT stop at Wall Drug, regardless of how many billboards beckon.

I'm thinking of crossing off SD next year with a quick trip to Mount Rushmore.

I don't know that I've driven in Montana but I do have 47 others covered  And I only got Wyoming as a drive for dinner when I was teaching USDA-APHIS in Fort Collins, CO.

Anything with more than 4 billboards on the same road is a total tourist trap ;)

We don't own GTMO, the us leases it from Cuba. Not that Fidel cashes the check or anything.

I'm scheduled to be in GEG for a total of about 9 hours over 3 trips...
