Security in ABQ is always :rolleyes:. It's a test airport for new technologies so they're always throwing new stuff in there.

The latest and greatest as of this weekend was a rijiggering of the lines. I asked the woman checking my idea what was better about this new way, because I was failing to see it. She told me it was better because it was new.

I guess failing to consider multiple lines merged / criss-crossed / there isn't enough physical room to move between the ID check and the security checkpoint.

With home insurers dropping coverage / raising rates for even the most minor of issues, I'm reticent to even call them until my home warranty company finds someone willing to try clearing the pipes within the house.

Of course, my home warranty company now has me hooked up with a renewable energy contractor 1.5 hours from my home; I expressed concern that this outfit didn't seem to be engaged in ordinary plumbing but my warranty company didn't care much ... So I'll see - I expect to not see.

Yes, the only reason I tried it was that, as usual on a Sunday, the elite and non-elite lines at the CLE C security checkpoint just merge together after the ID check. The xray line had half as many people as the regular lines, so I thought I would try it out. It ended up taking far longer than had I waited in one of the metal detector lines with twice as many passengers in the queue.

I loved the Porter Air experience. I got some feedback that northbound there is a bit of effort to make the "Big Catch" at the little airport, but if you are going anywhere near downtown it is completely worth it. Especially since CO flies the same equipment with crappier service to a way less convenient airport.

I just read your MoH story. I left a comment and wanted to add to it: if you saw the movie Bat 21 (Gene Hackman/Danny Glover) you saw a Navy SEAL rescue Hackman's character. The SEAL who pulled him received the MoH and is still alive. In a very weird twist, that SEAL (Lt. Tom Norris) later received a serious head wound in combat and needed to himself be pulled out of action under fire. The SEAL who came to get him, Mike Thornton, himself got the Medal for pulling Norris out.

Mike Thornton at one point in his career was assigned to Seal Team Two, which saw lots of ground action around Chau Doc in, IIRC, 1968. Thornton's boss? Dick Marcinko.
