sdm1130 and I stayed at the Marriott Brussels and it was a pretty nice hotel. It's a 5-10 minute walk to the train station that takes you to the airport, but other than that, not bad.

Avoid Hilton Schiphol.

I'll still have Marriott platinum status through February of 2011 and I think I can requal for SPG Plat on 25 stays in a year fairly easily. My only concern, then, is of property coverage and ability to find SPG properties in many of the smaller locales I go to.

I have the same issue with Starwood, but I went for the Platinum comp anyway, and have just made a point of working in those 25 stays (not hard for me — just takes two stays/month plus an extra somewhere along the way) when I can. With my work in Baton Rouge it's not hard to pick up two or three SPG stays in one four night trip, especially if I fly out of MSY. At some point next year I *hope* to no longer be traveling to Baton Rouge on a regular basis, at which point maintaining SPG and Marriott status becomes a lot harder. On the other hand my two Texas projects that will be ongoing at that time will have me seeing Holiday Inn Express locations in East Texas on a very regular basis  so I'll have IHG Platinum easily wrapped up. I'll just be dependent on personal travel, and Thursday night stays at the hotels near IAH, for renewing status in the other programs.

Wow, those SPG promos are pretty stellar. I might actually be able to hit Plat.

Too bad the Sheraton ABQ Airport isn't set to open until 2020.:rolleyes::confused:

Morning Box.

Thanks! 5-10 minute walk seems not bad at all.

Will do. We only stay in airport hotels for the last night of a trip before an early morning flight home anyway, which we'll probably do if we decide this is the trip we're taking. Looks like the AMS-DTW flight I've got my eyes on leaves around 8:30 AM.

Can someone repost or PM me a list of the current GG codes and agent entry codes please. I would like to add them to my pda. I must have deleted the one I had :(

Odds of our corporate travel agent calling shenanigans on me trying to book ATL-MSY round-trip via IAD, ORD, and DEN for a grand total of just under 11,000 EQMs  for a price that still falls $250 under the cap where I have to get project management approval for booking the ticket? :D

And odds that I don't get a serious  from my partner when he hears why I'm doing this, and why I'm flying UA most of the rest of the year? (But honey, we'll get SWUs and CR1s to blow next year!)

Oh goodie goodie! Chase just sent me a CO currency coupon to add to the 15-20 or so I've already got in my stash. Must remember to use this one first though, since it actually has an expiration date. Might come in handy a week from Sunday when we fly EWR-ATL on an ERJ.

The Marriott in BRU is quite adequate and very centrally located. There is actually a tram station right outside the front door and one of the 3 main train stations, as Hartmann said, is only a 5-10 minute walk. I hear there's a pretty good karaoke bar right around the corner as well... :p

A lovely SPG.com bug... :) I'm not sure what area of ABQ you are usually in, but the Sheraton Albuquerque Uptown is actually a pretty nice property (although, the outside would not indicate this at all).

Morning from the Westin Aruba. It is a beautiful day down here.

We had a great flight yesterday from EWR-AUA. The EWR-based FA in first was great, and she spent a good deal of time chatting with us. We thought we recognized her from the DO, but she was not there, but was very intrigued by the whole thing. She was glad CO does things like that. She really appreciated that we had been to their training facility and understood what their entire job is - which is different than what leisure travelers believe it is... Interestingly, none of the flight crew is looking forward to Jeff taking over... they all rolled their eye and said "no comment"...

Anyway, it was a great flight and we had excellent service. The Westin is fairly nice, although everything is pretty expensive (food, drinks, taxis, etc). But it is vacation - so that's not a big deal.

Enjoy your weekend!

Yeah, it just reopened. Not that anything in ABQ is that far from anything, but it is on the other side of town from where I need to be. I generally stay in that little cluster of hotels right near the aeropuerto. That way I get to hear the burro braying all night.

I can only stay at hotels where we have corporate rates in certain cities. ABQ being one of them.

The Sheraton at AMS is reportedly a much better property than the Hilton, and it has that benefit of being about 100 feet from the front door of Schiphol. I just checked HHonors and Hilton AMS is a Cat 5 reward -, really?
