You should have just comped to NW Plat a few months ago, like I did. It is only valid until March 2010, but it does not count against your once-in-a-lifetime status match to DL, and they are offering crazy RDM bonuses right now.

I thought about it, but it really wasn't worth the effort. I'd rather have the miles credited to CO toward my lifetime mileage anyway, and that's where my biggest RDM balance is as well. If I have to fly what's probably my last NW flight as a CO Platinum in the back, oh well.

"Soon" in the world of Russian aviation is the same as "never". :D

I've flown on them. The last time was on an aging Tu-134. I don't think they have any of those left. In fact, other than some Tu-154M aircraft, they have no Soviet era aircraft at all for their commercial routes. All of the Russian carriers are getting rid of the Soviet era aircraft as fast as they can. Oh -- and I thought the TU-334 was canceled.

My understanding is that there are still a good number of orders for the Tu-334 and that work is proceeding (even if slowly).

They are quite full of themselves. All of their marketing in the Atlanta area tends to be based on being the biggest airline, flying out of the busiest airport in the world, which just happens to be right there in Atlanta. It's quite fitting though, as my impression of Atlanta, especially the natives, is that it considers itself to be far more important to the world than it really is.

This is a perception that is imbued in a lot of people there.

Yawn is right. Football bores me. I sort of enjoyed high school football as a kid only for the social aspect (everyone in town was at the game) and watching the bands perform. Other than that, the game was a huge blah. I still don't get what the big deal about it is.

But it's....it's....football.
