IIRC, the criteria include years with program, years as elite, total SPG points earned over time, current points balance, room rate, prior stays at that hotel, etc.

So, odds are a nouveau Plat won't end up snagging your upgrade if you have demonstrated loyalty over the years.

Hard to complain about the nights/stays advance offer with SPG too, if you've already requalified or you're on track to requalify without double nights/stays. This one makes requalifying for Platinum next year super easy for me, as I'll go into 2010 with at least 10-12 stays already credited.

I anticipate with Marriott's rollover I'll have a handful of nights to start me off toward 2010 status with them, too.

Interesting that they are pretty much hiding DEQM behind the OnePass changes....

Agreed, but they're likely both Super Hornets. A joint flyover is an honor, and the big dogs get the best rides.

That and the fact that DL will have to match are the only positives.

Why can't we have natural selection for Plats? :D

I have basically switched much of my remaining transcon business to DLNW for the rest of the year. With my comp'ed NW Plat status, getting EUA's is certainly no more difficult than on CO, plus they are giving generous RDM bonuses right now. I think I got 12k bonus RDM's, in addition to elite bonuses, on last week's trip alone. With double DL EQM's, I probably will be able to retain at least DL Gold next year.

Cool - I'll be the nouveau Plat in the standard room on the 2nd floor overlooking the parking lot.

Aside from a few notoriously Plat-unfriendly hotels (Sheraton NYC Hotel/Towers comes to mind), it's a rare day when that happens at any SPG property. Besides, if you target primarily Leisure/Resort properties, it's virtually unheard of (unless the property is just flat sold-out for a wedding, or something).

If room upgrades are what you crave, then SPG Plat is the best dealer on the block. :D

Just a few months ago, I was telling my other half how much I wished I could reach Plat with SPG because of the room upgrades. Needless to say, I was very excited when I read about their promo!

My first stay as a Plat will be at the LM Barcelona. We're checking in on NYE, so that should be a good test at an upgrade.

I think SPG Plat and BD Gold share a block... :)

1 I am kinda pissed off that I did not draw a plat match with nw.

2 happy birthday to me. I drew double eqms as my present. ( I turned 27 yesterday)

3 I hope for a dl/nw match so I can hope to retain silver with them.

Okay. Gotta do some work. Earn some money for MR's to work towards getting to Plat. MM Plat, that is.

with two Indian Sea Harriers and Jaguars. The jaguars are the jets on

hiding behind one of the Harriers."

I went RAF, didn't consider India.

Kind of a lucky guess. The nose gives it away.

I was thinking the nose was a giveaway too, but I guessed too old. Mirage noses are just as long but just a little aesthetically different.

Agreed. The biggest giveaways for the Super Hornet are the wing vanes and the engine intakes, and neither are at a good angle in that shot.

Unbelievable. I will now end the year with probably close to 200k EQM's. I would like to see some sort of rollover EQM's or other benefits for current Plats.

What do you think this is SPG :-:
