You can reach teh Sheraton AMS without ever having to step outside. There is a moving-walkway from the train area that connects to the parking garages. There is an entrance to the Sheraton on the left as you proceed down that hallway.

I was unaware of such, but by going outside you walk yourself right into the lobby.

Good call. You will do about 15 times the walking within AMS to get off your flight and get your bags than you will to walk to that Sheraton. When you pick up your luggage and come out into the main hall where the train escalators are, you proceed out the front door and cross the two lanes of traffic, and the hotel is right there on the corner. If you know where to look, you can see the hotel's bell carts from the front door of the airport.

Well, this would be only on the outbound flight — we'd fly into BRU. The only night I anticipate staying by the airport would be the last one before we fly home. But it's good to know it's that close.

Not surprised. In the game of good cop bad cop, he's not the one playing the good cop. He's quick, direct, and too the point.

Does the box have any recommendations on hotels in SIN and KUL? Preferabley SPG or Marriott.

Westin KUL is good, and has a very good location.
In SIN , I usually stay at the St Regis. Never tried the Sheraton there, before the St Regis opened I stayed at the Marriott on the corner of Orchard and Scotts Road and the Hilton on Orchard Road.

KUL to Westin - Take the KLIA EKSPRESS to CENTRAL and walk to Monorail , from one of the stops on monorail the Westin is a 5 minute walk ( Ill find out which one)
SIN-to all hotels I named , you can take a taxi or take the MRT to Orchard (transfer at Tana Merah & then at City Hall to Red line directions Jurong East alight at Orchard)

The Marriott in BRU is quite adequate and very centrally located. There is actually a tram station right outside the front door and one of the 3 main train stations, as Hartmann said, is only a 5-10 minute walk. I hear there's a pretty good karaoke bar right around the corner as well... :p

Blech. Boring and, while a decent enough location, no character. Boo. But y'all are hooked on suite upgrade potential instead of saving money and searching out some decent character in the hotels you stay in. Far be it from me to try to talk sense into that beast. :p

I highly recommend Hotel Des Indes, in Den Haag (about 40 mins from AMS by Train). It is, IMO, one of SPG's best properties... period.
...
That is where I am having my Study Holiday this Thanksgiving, as well. I'll be up to my ears in books that weekend, but would be willing to meet up for a drink at some point if y'all pass through Den Haag during your trip.

Even knowing that this post was coming doesn't take away from it all that much. Looks pretty phenomenal. I want to get there one of these days. I might even finally sign up for the SPG card to pay for it.

Can someone repost or PM me a list of the current GG codes and agent entry codes please. I would like to add them to my pda. I must have deleted the one I had :(

If you get this let me know (i.e. pass it along) and I'll create a FAQ post for them. Or at least I'll put it on my ever growing list of things I should do with the FAQ.

KE lounge in MNL has a reasonably full booze selection. Bad news is that the brands are decidedly . Gilbey's, Aboslut, Tanduay (local rum), Johnny Black and Campari. And some ghetto brandy brand that I can't quite see from here and I'm not really keen on getting up. They have some food, too, though I think I'd have to eat everything out on the counter to get a decent fill. It is incredibly pathetic that this is the best KE lounge I've been in thus far on this trip. I'm so unimpressed with KE. Terribly so.

Oh, and I lost my upper deck 744 C seat (still never done it). Apparently they've turned the upper deck into Economy Op-Ups and moved actual C pax downstairs. No, I'm not bitter at all. Well, maybe I actually am.

For those interested in aquaporn, I finally posted the hundred some-odd u/w pix from the diving this week in the Philippines. Best diving I've ever done. By far. Off the charts amazing. http://gallery.millerworks.net/Under...lippines-2009/

Back to the bar now for more crappy booze.

Right now the plan is ATL-EWR-BRU, a few nights in Brussels, train to Den Haag, night or two there, then the rest of the week in Amsterdam. Return flight would be AMS-DTW-ATL.

Well, right in between Brussels and Amsterdam is Antwerp, which is a very interesting city if you like 16th c. art and architecture (or if you want to buy diamonds). I don't know where a good place to stay would be, as I have either gone for the day or stayed with friends, but it is well worth a visit. Have a De Koninck (local beer, served, as Belgian beers are, in its own special glasses, and called a "bolletje" if I remember correctly. It's been a while).

Yes please (provided you don't need anything special to use it).

I, too, was unimpressed with KE. Sorry to hear about the 744 upper deck. :(

I know I'm way too late to the game, but I could use it this weekend.
