Just clicked on Federici's menu...thin crust, you say? Vitale's in Old Bridge. Been a long time since I ate it, but it was mind-altering about five years ago.

The transition to :-: will actually be worse for IAH-based flyers seeking international nonstops. With SkyTeam, we could choose between CO, AF, and KL for longhaul nonstops. Now it will just be CO and LH (SQ's IAH-DME isn't daily and doesn't connect through an alliance hub). I hope other :-: carriers will look into launching service to IAH (or at least add IAH-MUC on LH). IAH-ZRH on LX would be ^. One can dream... |
As of 30 November, you'll have IAH-YUL. I was going to say more than that, but the overwater options out of there kinda suck.

Cake and ice cream at 0845 is profoundly . Had to get a lot more coffee this morning.

Welcome to the world of the IAH-based flyer. EZE is about the only longhaul nonstop (with the exception of seasonal GIG) that IAH has, which EWR does not. You try to go to EZE, you likely gotta try to get there with at least a few NYC-IAH segments (good luck finding saver F availability).

IAH-FRA availability has been excellent on LH to date. I suspect that will change after the :-: transition. It would be very nice to see one of the Asian carriers tag IAH (OZ or CA, perhaps). I doubt NH would give it a go, as CO already operates IAH-NRT. |

CM - the Creedence thing drove me nuts. Read the entire thread about three times to see what inspired you. Was just above to quit and be frustrated when I reinterpreted from soccer to ccr. Laughed my ... off. Well played!

IAH-MUC has a decent chance of happening...FRA is already announced...LON/CDG/AMS are staying. One can get nearly anywhere else in the world from those cities and NRT. That would satisfy me, anyway.

Golf never came together - we were just looking at drinks. I'm hoping that 2010 brings at least one Golf Mini-Do. I still want to do any or all of the other courses at Bethpage and I have several ideas for a golf trip that requires flying from this neck of the woods. When it becomes financially feasible for me to lead such a group, I will post options. There are also a few courses down by Philly that I'd like to play which would be a more convenient trek for the NYC crowd.

I was thinking of somewhere in the Dayton area. There's a great Indian Dosa place there (actually, there are a couple of them). Might I also suggest somewhere equally inconvenient to AC but unique and quite excellent, Federicis in Freehold? Another good suggestion would be The Cabin, just outside of Freehold.

Ooh -- I wonder if it's still there. A quick search shows it as being at 1194 Englishtown Rd, Old Bridge, NJ but a search of that address shows a place there called Race Zone Bar & Grill. Another dive into the world of search reveals this... the liquor license was transferred in 2005. If the new place has great pizza I'll go, but I'm not convinced it does.
If y'all are thinking of coming to The Cabin on Saturday night, let me know. |
