I was unaware of any plans to terminate IAH-CDG. Both CO and AF have operated that route for years, even before teaming up in SkyTeam.

He is worried about them removing the lamps.

IAH-LAD is already flown several times per week by World/Sonair's special Charter service. You can't buy tickets, though. Only Energy Company employees that work for companies having a contract with World/Sonair get to ride. Apparently the MD-11 is operated as 3-Class, with pretty nice F and C sections.

yes yes I know it is done, I have seen the MD-11 and I also know some of the guys on the flight that drink in copious amounts even in Y with it very free flowing from the companies :D

I mostly mean what would it take for SA to fly it...angola govt may want to protect their sonAir charter.

You are being completely reasonable. Some people have the perspective that miles are some sort of freebie or gift, bestowed upon you by the benevolent airline, and aren't worth crap compared to cold hard cash. Well, the airline created the miles as a form of currency and benefits immensely from making those miles worth something, otherwise they wouldn't do it. At the very least, the use of miles removes a liability from their books, which is why it is more valuable to the airline than an EUA, and often the airline did actually receive cash for those miles from a credit card company.

Don't forget that any season mileage runner can quite easily put a cash value on a redeemable mile.

LOL. I wonder if teh AF Lounge at IAH is still operational, or if they just rolled everything into the new KL Crown Lounge.

I won't hold my breath for it, but it sure would be nice to have another nonstop option to Asia. KE manages to make DFW work somehow, perhaps OZ could make IAH work.

It's probably not the seats that make the route worth keeping for KE.

The military charter MD-11's for World are two-class, and who sits up there depends on the branch of service utilizing the charter. The Army and Marine Corps are well-known to give the J seats to the youngest and greenest guys in the outfit, while the Air Force puts the brass up front.

Entirely possible. Never know what's going to happen when dealing with West African governments. Case-in-point, the EWR-LOS fiasco.

The FCPA doesn't really help the situation either. That is the only the only way to do business in those countries.

Brilliant on many levels. Saw his private jet at TEB once. Had his wife's name painted on the vertical stab just below the T-tail.

For some reason, I thought CO was eliminating IAH-CDG after it exits Skyteam, leaving AF as the only option. I could be wrong, though.
