 Now I will requalfiy for Gold and just be 10k miles short of Plat. I truly think the wife will kill me if I make another run this year.

Just got email from Avis, all their cars will now be sm:rolleyes:ke-free. We'll see how that goes. Their cars always smell like smoke or a gallon of Febreze was used in it.

They have stickers on all the smoke free cars now, and indeed I have been getting nice new ones without the smoke smell. Actually not had a really smoky one except long time a year or more back.

You've got it backwards, my friend! Methinks your wife will kill you if you do not make a run this year and let Plat slip through your fingers! :D

That's good as I am expecting to increase my rental activity soon.

Justin, Ill email you her phone number and let you explain why I need to keep PLAT or even go for ExPlat. ;)

She actually hates AA as they have lost her bag on the only TWO flights she has ever been on with them. CO has gotten her bag to the destination 100% of the time.

I am a huge fan of the Oneworld Awards now that I have discovered them. I also just called in and ticketed the PRG flight. So I am in for sure. If anyone wants to share a room let me know. Otherwise Ill be staying at a Best Western down the street from the SPG property.

Question: Do the AA DEQM count toward additional stickers?

AMF in NJ Sep 2, 2009 11:17 am

Quick box question, assuming a non-elite traveler you have checked in and dropped off your bags at a kiosk right around the 30 minute cut off (lets call it 35), but due to long lines at the TSA station you miss your flight. Are you protected in any manner or screwed?

AA loses bags a lot more than CO, and cancels or severely delays planes in my experience. But I can fly AA out of ABI which is offering covered parking for the same price as  parking at GRK, and is 30 miles less of a drive. I really want to fly CO but once I hit plat, I may not. And if CO offers DEQM plat will come FAST.

Technically screwed, but a good sob story to the CS desk should get you protected on the next flight.

I'm slowly coming around to being okay with maintaining CO Plat and BD*G (unless and until the BD program is gutted by any future purchaser). CO handles pragmatic concerns of being IAH-based and getting some use out of my status with them, and BD is just a freakin' gold-mine that is too good to pass up.

I'll trade in CC for other alliance awards when necessary, and will also slowly add to my BA balance over time with AA Q-UPs, which should be painless, as they'll be flown in F and I'll have Admirals' Club access w/Amex Plat.

I may dip my toe back into SkyTeam if NorthWelta comes out with a Q-UP that is just too good to pass up, and credit it to OK or SU.

+1. I hope UA doesn't match either (but likely will).

In a related vein, I'm wondering why Hollywood has not yet tried to roll out an awards show for quality of production in awards shows.

I'm fairly certain there is an Emmy for this already, or at least an Emmy for which awards shows are eligible.

My guess is no -- IME AA, like UA, counts only BIS miles for stickers/E500s. You don't, for example, get any extra credit for flying J/C.

It might actually cost them business from me too, as I'm unlikely to requalify for gold, even if DEQM were offered, and I may even need to do a mileage run to hit silver (which wouldn't be necessary with DEQM).

I disagree. LH has a ton to gain and B6 isn't actually putting their code anywhere right now. Sure, they will eventually, but right now I think it is all about LH, and I'm guessing they pushed for it.

I don't see it, but I guess we'll see.

+1. Though I do hope NW/DL and UA match.

I'm still amazed you haven't been to Japan, at least according to your FM.

On UA, I don't think it would be a big issue. With them offering DEQMs to Australian residents, the true mileage runners all moved to Australia for a few months.
