I just did so at my local Kroger - $30 in meat and $14.49 in Coors Light (I know) for a $15 rebate. I had coupons on the meat, so my $30 got:

A shrimp ring (50% off and $4 coupon),
Three 12 ounce steaks (on sale),
Pepperoni (on sale and with coupon),
Three pounds of mussels (on sale),
Two turkey roasts (buy one get one free),
Two packages of mettwurst (on sale),
A nice sirloin (on sale and with coupon),
And a pound of sausage (on sale and with coupon)

Freezer is full - I even had to put a pound of mussels straight onto the range. ;)

Sir

You own (or rent) an HD-DVR. You've ordered a nice new HD TV.

I give you six months until you have a DVD player that plays discs in high-definition.

:p

Home at last. Now to catch up on the Box.

And  at UA for changing the 4:40 PM IAD-ATL flight from an E70 to a CR7. I was upgraded, as usual, and Mesa's CR7s have the most awful seats in F. What is it with F seats in RJ aircraft that they are designed to feel like they're reclined halfway back while actually in their full upright position, and the backs are so low that there's no support for my neck or shoulders? And these things are HARD.

CO's ERJ seats are more comfortable. Heck, the E+ seat on UA's 777 is far, far better than this thing was. Five hours this morning in that seat and I was fine; 90 minutes in the CR7 F seat and I was miserable. I thought F was supposed to be more comfortable?

And I forgot about one other thing I dislike about the big CRJs. They stretched the plane, but the overhead bins are pretty much the same size as those on the original CRJ, so there's a ton more gate checks versus a comparable sized Embraer.

This flight was pretty full; might have been a few open seats in Y but I didn't go back to see. I counted 43 people in the jetway at ATL waiting for a gate checked bag. It took almost 20 minutes from the time the first gate checked bag was delivered until they lifted mine up the stairs into the jetway.

I don't get it. Why would any airline want to buy a CR7 or CR9 over an Embrarer that seats about the same number of passengers?

Oh, and work today went all  on me. I just sent an e-mail I typed on my IAD-ATL flight that may or may not get me in trouble/fired. And at the moment, I really don't care.

*sigh*

I'm just glad to be home.

Maybe a DVR is the route for me to go... I watch a few shows pretty consistently (The Office, It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, and Top Chef) but I have to schedule my evenings around them.

Hopefully a DVR will fix this.

You'll love it. I added an external HD with 1TB capacity!

I was talking about a DVR, but yes, HD also changes the way you watch TV - I won't even look at anything outside of the range of HD channels.

CR7/9 versus E75 - I have no idea. Bombardier probably cuts deals (or there's some other economic advantage).

Hope the e-mail was well justified; ideally, something the salesperson or SE should have already handled.

And I was in AUA and am glad to be home.

Get one. You'll then wonder how you ever got by without it before. I've had one for nearly five years now and it totally changes how you watch TV. You can watch your shows when you want; with many models you can easily transfer them over a network to a computer, which I do sometimes to take a show to watch with me on the laptop while flying.

We have no-HD DirecTV with a five year old ReplayTV unit. It works well, but required a hackjob cable some guy builds specifically for connecting the serial port on ReplayTV units to the USB port on DirecTV units so that the Replay can change the channels on the DirecTV box.

Early next year we plan to replace the living room TV with a HD set. The DVR and everything else will get an upgrade at the same time. But for now, the old equipment still works, and it's long since been paid for.

Well, it was because of an overly eager client who complained to our project manager that they hadn't received something I told them last Thursday I would send, but to give me at least a week because it was going to take a week before I'd have a chance to work on it for them. Before the close of business today they freaked out about it — and this is not something worth freaking out over; it's two spreadsheets for them to work on that will take about 2-3 hours to do, and they have a month before it has to be done. Our project manager, who is an incompetent idiot (sorry, but I've worked with this woman for years now and she should have been shown the door years ago) didn't even bother to find out from me what was going on. Instead she sends a nasty e-mail about how I'm not supporting her on this project and that I'm neglecting my job duties.

I fired back and told her the truth — which is that I've got four major projects I'm juggling right now, three of which are much farther along than the one I'm working on with her, which just kicked off a month ago. Two of them are clients who have already delayed a go live on our HR/payroll software once before and are trying to get back on track for a go live at the end of this year, less than 90 days from now. The other is a high profile client that has senior management breathing down my neck on a daily basis these days. In addition to traveling to LA and back this week, I spent 10+ hours on conference calls this week for the high profile project, 30 hours or so on site working with my client in LA, and another 5-10 hours working remotely on my Louisiana client that is a total mess.

So, no, I didn't have time to put together a spreadsheet for this other client this week, who has just started a 2 year implementation.

I'm still pissed about her attitude about the entire thing. I'll work on it Sunday and have it to the client before they arrive for work Monday — which I had already told the client this morning by e-mail before the project manager freaked out.

A can holds 5oz; how could you not drink 40%?

If the PM persists, pull in the message to the client as an attachment; sounds like you did a good job at expectation setting.
