Although I did most of my errands this evening (flu shot, Walgreens, Target, Kroger, gas station), I have to get some sleep as well. Need some strength to tote dollar coins to the bank tomorrow.

It is a sliding scale that you can live with if you actually fly on DL. I earn more than twice as many miles flying on DL as I did when I was PE on CO and the high cost of the awards is simply a wash.

Just use the analogy of a government controlling the money and using the printing presses to devalue its way out of debt. When you control the currency, you can play a lot of games with it.

I guess that they still have leases on both. If you've never been into the DL club, save yourself the bother. The ex-WC is much larger, brighter and more inviting than that cramped and usually full-to-the-gills lounge when it was the Crown Room.

They have the best cheese counter ... and their tartes and cakes are oh, so delicious....:D

Life is too short to eat bad food. About 75% of our food comes from Wegman's. The produce is so much better, and we buy a lot of it! I'm sick of mealy fruit and rotten heads of lettuce that look fine on the outside. I get those at the other markets near us. Never again!

I took Acela BOS-NYP the other day. I was scheduled on the 5:20pm train, but realized a few minutes after 4:00pm that I could easily make the 4:30pm train. I called Amtrak and they were super nice about changing me. Only after I thought everything was all done did the agent mention that the fare was now $40 more. I told them to leave things as they were. Cut to 9:00pm as my 5:20pm departure was pulling into NYP. The conductor and I started talking and I found out that the Acela we passed in Stanford -- that I thought was headed to Boston -- was actually the 4:30pm departure, stuck with a mechanical problem.

I miss living in NYC. I did my grocery shopping every other day and went to the pork store for pork and sausage, the butcher for beef and lamb and the green grocer for fruits and veg.

I actually do like going there — they're generally very easy to work with and California is a nice break from my usual Texas/Louisiana work haunts. But it is like walking into an alternate reality sometimes. It's certainly different from the church crowd I grew up around, or am used to seeing on Sundays and religious holidays.

A while back, I worked for a place that had a TV ministry as a customer. They were all True Believers(tm) as described above. They were all very nice -- but in many ways were rather scary.

Well, I'm done debugging the problems with my main web server. Unfortunately, the fix isn't going to be pretty. I first thought we had a flaky disk drive. Then the drive appeared to die completely. Now it appears that the problem is actually the port the drive was attached to. At least we didn't lose any data or need to go to backups...

But they still suffer from the low ceiling and tiny overhead bins that I swear are smaller than those on an ERJ-145. Embraer got it right when going above 50 seats. The ERJ-145 was built off the dimensions of the earlier EMB-120 turboprop, which was fine for a plane of its size. But Embraer was smart and realized a plane with 65-100 seats needed larger dimensions, with bigger overhead bins, a higher ceiling, and a second lavatory.

Bombardier just decided to mostly stretch the CRJ, with some modifications to the wings, engines, and landing gear, and mostly cosmetic changes to correct some of the really awful features on the original CRJ, like the tiny, low placed windows and design of the interior wall panels. But unlike the large Embraer, which looks nothing like the original ERJ inside or out, the big CRJs still show their roots as the CRJ (and the Challenger business jet before that) all over the place.

I can't believe Bombardier stretched that thing even more. The CRJ-1000 is one type you'll never catch me chasing after.

Huh? I am able to fit my fully-loaded 21" rollaboard into the CR9 overhead bins without issue, whereas one can barely fit a laptop case into the ERJ bins.

A huge +1. It can be done rather inexpensively, too, if one goes about it the right way.

Good morning, box.

Bit chilly-willy here in NJ. Hope it warms up as the day goes on.

More airports in the US need to be connected to public transportation like MSP is connected to the Minneapolis light rail. It's not a huge system, but 5-10 minutes from gate to train + $1.75 and 20 minutes and you're downtown.

Agreed. It is relatively new and a phenomenal system. PDX is very similar.

I feel a little dirty. I paid for an EML upgrade on jetBlue. Not because I wanted the extra legroom (the 34"in regular Y is plenty for me) but because I wanted an "A" seat for arrival into SAN. Is that wrong?
