I highly recommend Hotel Des Indes, in Den Haag (about 40 mins from AMS by Train). It is, IMO, one of SPG's best properties... period.


The hotel sits directly across the street from the M.C. Escher Museum, which is ^. Den Haag is also an amazing city that is well worth visiting, if you have never been.


That is where I am having my Study Holiday this Thanksgiving, as well. I'll be up to my ears in books that weekend, but would be willing to meet up for a drink at some point if y'all pass through Den Haag during your trip.

That is actually kinda hot until the Hitler face. The Hitler face ruins any previous hotness.

Den Haag rules, and I have ALCO and CO 1E to thank for turning me on to it. I brought home posters from the Escher museum. The Den Haag Centraal train station also has a quick-stop store that has quite a wide array of sex toys, should anyone wish to spice up their train ride.

If you are flying direct from IAH or MIA, you could check out Bermuda, it is in between :D Not exactly the way you mentioned it however ;)

That place looks amazing.

It is absolutely one of the best European cities, IMO... right up there with Prague, Salzburg, Strasbourg and Edinburgh, but with a slightly different (and very Dutch) style.

Right now the plan is ATL-EWR-BRU, a few nights in Brussels, train to Den Haag, night or two there, then the rest of the week in Amsterdam. Return flight would be AMS-DTW-ATL.

When it had just opened as an SPG property (Le Meridien at that time), they had 99EUR/night rates. :D :D :D

Now it's usually 155EUR/night on prepaid rates, but that's still pretty good, considering the quality of the hotel. I also think it's a bargain at 12K points/night.

Good call. You will do about 15 times the walking within AMS to get off your flight and get your bags than you will to walk to that Sheraton. When you pick up your luggage and come out into the main hall where the train escalators are, you proceed out the front door and cross the two lanes of traffic, and the hotel is right there on the corner. If you know where to look, you can see the hotel's bell carts from the front door of the airport.

You can reach teh Sheraton AMS without ever having to step outside. There is a moving-walkway from the train area that connects to the parking garages. There is an entrance to the Sheraton on the left as you proceed down that hallway.

It is good to walk :)
