They use a plethora of car types here to get the speeders. On the east side where I work, the most popular one is a modified Dodge Charger painted silvery white with the lettering painted the same color (with a reflective undercoat).

The cops will sit at the bottom of overpasses and by the time the car at the top has realized it is a cop, they've already been caught.

Where is ALCO and his weekend hobby of renting a white crown vic, getting a hair dryer, shades, a big ol' hat and hanging out on an overpass?

My father used to have an employee with a white Crown Victoria. The guy would drive as fast as he liked and was never pulled over for speeding.

Extreme , don't expect people to use turn signals.

Grateful Express will overtake me around 11am CST but I think I will be able to swing back into the lead.

At one time, I was assigned a reserve cruiser as my state vehicle - think somewhere between "marked" and "unmarked", just not exactly subtle. I never got passed on the interstate.

I looked at the criteria used to generate the rankings. What exactly is, "Are there move-over laws in the state?" My guess is that's a "keep right except to pass" law. NJ has such a law but nobody seems to either follow or enforce it. That's one thing I wish they would enforce. The double fines/points for tickets in a 65mph zone are absurd, though.

I wish they had that law in Washington State and Oregon. Driving around Seattle, it seems that everyone parks in the left lane and does the speed limit. You can tell the Eastern-bred drivers like me by watching cars weave in and out of traffic using all lanes.

During my commute I spend 4 miles on a bridge. The fastest lane is always the right lane.

It amazes me to see people get on where I do, at the foot of the bridge, and then go over 3 lanes of traffic to the left lane where there's brake lights. I'll routinely do 75-85 in the right lane while folks are doing 55 in the left.

Not the safest method of driving but it has yet to fail me.

Also, what's with people's compulsion to hit the breaks when approaching a bridge? The lanes don't shrink or anything. It never ceases to amaze me.

Morning, Box. I'm back from wet and windy Bristol, UK complete with 2 suitcases FULL of chocolate and tea bags .... oh, and some Maynards Wine Gums for Olton Hall. They nearly put me over my baggage allowance ... LOL!

Wha have I missed while I've been away? got too much work to do to spend hours reading back posts, so someone fill me in with the synopsis!

LOVE that word - shenanigans, shenanigaii .... :D

I think I will use it in my court case against my crack-smoking (well, not literally, but you'd think it the "shenangigaii" she's been up to lately) business partner who is completely stark raving bonkers ....

I think people get distracted by looking at what is beneath the bridge and/or subconsciously believe that driving on a bridge requires more caution than driving on a normal stretch of road. During winter, however, bridges can be more icy/snowy than normal roads, and crossing the bridge may require more caution or slower speeds.

:mad: Hearing about that stuff gets me mad. When I used to read Car & Driver you'd hear about that stuff every once in a while.

I think the local municipalities are hurting for $ & will look to get revenues any way they can!

Oh, and I'm a complete putz. I double booked myself with work trips during the first week in June. Am I in PHL or FLL? (I think I know which one will win!)

Poor you! Guess you'll have to make up for it at happy hour after work!
