Happy Friday, all!

I just checked in for...drumroll...my FIRST EVER MILEAGE RUN.

(and, quite embarrassingly, my first time outside the US in exactly [almost to the day] 3 years)

Two questions:
1) I assume that not giving out boarding passes by email, pending the inspection of a passport, after OLCI is normal?
2) I'm originating from PHL, not checking a bag - is 60 minutes enough lead-time at the airport (which is what the website said) or is more really needed?

I'm also still a little bit confused/worried because when I asked the question "is 2 hours in FRA enough turnaround time?" earlier, basically half the responses I got were "you don't even need to leave the gate area" and half of them were "you'll have problems getting back into the USA without passport stamps, etc."

I know it sounds dumb, but as I said, the last time I was out of the country was 2006, and even more sadly, the last time I was abroad by myself (i.e. not on tour with some ensemble or other) was 2000. THE HORROR. :o
So I just want to make sure I have my bases covered...

Anyone else traveling this weekend?

The "need to scan your passport" thing is totally normal.....and unfortunately often persists for years after they scan it.

You have to be checked in 60 min prior......Arriving at he airport with only 60 min will end in trouble if you can't get checked in instantly.

I am not sure where you are going, but when I went to Panama, I just waited at the gate until it was time to re-board the aircraft. I did not exit or go through immigration. I remained in-transit and did not have a problem entering the U.S from a lack of passport stamps.

Your are checked in for the PHL segment right, just not the Int'l one?

Nope. That's the original cover on those seats. The only thing DL has done to those planes is paint the outside. They're still NW inside, and operated by NW crews.

My ex-NW FA was encouraging people in Y to have white wine with the meal service and lamenting to those people that DL was going to start charging for booze in intl. Y. Also something about the death of NW's sparkling water. I had no idea that those were the existing interior colors. How convenient for DL.

Tard family on monorail/tram at Orlando Airport as it reaches the landside terminal:

Momma Tard: "This is the end?"

Daddy Tard: "What about Disney World?"

Momma Tard: "How are we supposed to get there..? I thought the monorail went there..."

Lil Tard: "Well i'm not walking all the way there!"

This was before we even reached baggage claim. Cuz everyone knows you arrive at MCO, get off your plane, take the airport tram, and you're magically at Disney World.

As much as I want to make fun of that, it's just sad. They are obviously DIY travelers that can't handle the rigors of vacation planning. And they say travel agents are becoming obsolete. I rest my case. I remember being on an EWR parking shuttle with a family and two kids going to Disney. The parents had surprised the kids, and a large banner unfurled when they opened the trunk to get the luggage. Pretty cool moment, actually. Then the mother got on the shuttle...she sat down, spread her legs pr0nstar-wide, and between said legs rested a document envelope that contained absolutely all of her research material and documentation. I know this because she didn't seal the envelope. Tickets, confirmations, maps, brochures, you name it. All in this overflowing unsealed envelope. She was, I suppose, too busy looking into character breakfasts and park passes to read the stuff about not being a target for the bad guys when you travel. The loss of that envelope probably would have left them stranded at the airport and without anything to back up what they had arranged. On one hand, I was thinking "God bless these parents for doing something like that for their kids". On the other, I was cursing their abject lack of common sense. And then I thought: "Too late. They've already procreated."

The whole Airbi/Airbii thing drives me nuts. The plural of bus is not bi or bii. It's buses. The plural of Airbus should be Airbuses.

You're technically correct, however "Airbii" just sounds cooler.

58. It is a slow progression since I'm not really up there all that often. But I push through ~3/visit on average and am making steady progress.

Oh no, there's worse. FL's 717 Y seat is far, far, far worse.

I didn't mind it too much, though it was only ATL-EWR so I wasn't stuck in it for too long.

Dear Continental,

I have been traveling extensively with your airline since the beginning of the year and am eagerly anticipating gaining Silver Elite status shortly and Gold status by the end of the year. With a little luck, I might even become Platinum.

You forgot to demand compensation. :p

My zillion miles (to be used only on the bus) just posted. My little elite thermometer has wheels on it. The  on the bus go round and round. Round and round. Round and .

Anyone know if I can check in for two people and receive e-BP's using one blackberry?

Apparently the Canuck and I are going somewhere this weekend. And she thinks we're going somewhere else.:rolleyes::D

You'll probably get asked a few extra questions when you arrive back at EWR. Just be honest and explain that you are flying for the miles.

You can do the check-in and you'll get two links but switching between them at the TSA or the gate will be a royal PITA.

I can't believe I just clicked on a link about Coldplay  The link has gone dead btw.

Edit: In reference to last night's comment about people needing to read that also applies to FT. I see the :rolleyes" are out in force on a something about air.

Well some of do enjoy their music...

Link still worked for me, though you can also navigate through www.coldplay.com

Post 4,:rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes:.

More than half of my FT posts have been in the box. If you remove the AMS thread posts from the equation, that number is actually closer to 75%.:rolleyes:.

That's a lot of 's.

I'd like to conclude this post with the following proclamation:

:-:The royal penis is clean your highness :-:
