Requiring ID to make a purchase that does not require ID (alcohol, cigarettes) is also against card companies contracts.
I also know that, by terms of the contract, you have to sign your card and writing 'See ID' or something along those lines is not legit. |

Morning, Box. Got back to SAN last night, in the office now. I am never quite as thankful for San Diego's weather as I am when I cross over the mountains from the desert.

Friends, Comrades, Boxiens:
It is my distinct honor and pleasure to share with you this moment, my post number 20,000 on FlyerTalk. Thanks to the foresight and generosity of our deal leader, Pandy Reterson, multiple successive 5 year plans have been successfully implemented growing our once small and weak nation into a powerful and mighty one. No longer will other lounges be able to push us around or command the respect they once did. No longer will the traveling public be safe from the threat of General  and the emotipillar army. No longer will a bar cart be safe from me. This moment in time has been almost nine years in the making. I look forward to the next 20,000 posts coming faster, with more wit and with more alcohol. Long live the PWP! -sbm12 |

In place of my signature I write "ask for ID" on my card. It's amazing how rarely I'm asking to show my ID.

I'm not worried about my card being stolen because I am not on the hook for the costs. Much like the minimum purchase requirements - otherwise they actually do lose money on the small transactions - I understand why the merchants want this, but I also am not a fan at all of being asked to show it. I generally do, though not after having a long and involved conversation with the merchant, slowing things down for them. Thanks all re 20K. Legend status is now in sight.:D |

In other news, Google has successfully taken down half of the internet this morning with their servers having some kind of hiccup.
I'm glad that I don't work 1st line support any more. The number of calls that "the internet is down" today must be off the charts. :D  |

Correct. Writing "See ID" is not a valid way to sign the card.

Legend status is now in sight.:D I worked heavily with credit card companies and merchant services companies and the fees imposed were something like $.10-$.20 / transaction + a small % of the amount charged. Depending on how much business a company did, those amounts got really small. |

Is there any availability on the 10 pm? I know there are still a few aisle and bulkhead seats available.

Claiming that the merchants lose money on small purchases is true, but it is so miniscule that it should not even be noticed. Unless people are coming in and buying $.05 pieces of candy and paying with a credit card, transactions over $1 should at least make a few pennies and probably more.

Last I checked, it was booked to capacity. I'm headed to the airport at 2pm. The 4:30pm flight to IAH is overbooked so i'm hoping for a bump and then try to get on the 10pm. The front is still only half full on the 10pm, so that may work in my favor. :D
