If you are staying at Spindrift or Ruby's you will not need a taxi. Both are a 5 minute walk down Front St from the San Pedro airstrip and right in the center of the town close to all the restaurants, bars, stores and tour operators. I will work on uploading the pictures tonight to share also.

Did you get a chance to check out Wild Mango's?

I saw the video on this -- that's wild! I just wondered if any luggage was destroyed, aside from the engine.

We just landed at LAX a VERY short time after this happened. Was talking to the CO van driver that did the shuttle over to the AE gates, he saw the whole thing happen. Some tug driver didn't obey the clearly marked signs that state "STOP for aircraft" and tried to beat a plane across a taxiway.... and lost the last container in his string of three behind his tug.

Needless to say, LAWA immediately yanked the tug driver's badge for gross violation of the rules.

Having been through the LAWA training regimen, it is pertinent to note that any badge-holder, NOT their employer, is personally liable for *all* damages, etc., which might have been caused by their negligence.

As my AE flight was leaving out for LAX-FAT, I could see the JAL 744 sitting on the ramp next to the QF A380, with all the engine cowl sections open, MX staff all around it. Ouch.

No, I did not see your post until we were back in MIA. We went to Fido's and the Tacklebox.

Interesting! So, if any baggage was lost/gone, would the airline pay the passenger & then collect from the negligent party? What a nightmare! Wonder if that employee even has adequate liability insurance, as the damages to the engine look serious?

The shocked passengers on the JAL flight were probably delayed quite a bit in the transfer to a new plane. I imagine that any passengers, looking out the window at the time, were shaken up by what they saw & heard.

You think the Cavs players get together to watch the Boston/Orlando game live?

Umm, *what* new plane? That one 744 was the only JAL aircraft on the field, at least up until when I left. More than likely all of the pax on that plane got an extra night stay, dinner, etc., courtesy of the tug driver.

And I have no idea exactly how that negligent stuff worked, I took great care to make sure I never went afoul of such things when *I* was down on the ramp. :D

Any other Box denizens users of the Kindle? If so, and if you want to see the first Wandering Aramean Travel Guide (Hamburg Walking Tour) send me a PM.

Other publishing formats hopefully coming soon...

I was nice in correcting you, I thought. I could have been much meaner.

I'm not too worried about the layover. My main concern is hotel on Ambergis Caye and if I need to go more upscale than one of those two. I cannot decide if I care about having a pool or not since we'll be diving most of the time.
